Not Sure Which Way To Approach Affiliate Marketing

I'm attempting to make AM work for me but I'm not sure which approach to take. I'm looking at the weight loss/diet/fitness route as I've a massive interest in this area and I've looked at many diets, training routines, etc over the years.

I'm not sure whether I should build a site around one area, for example "weight loss tips" or should I have a site that caters for weight loss, strength training, building muscle, etc?

I think I'm pretty decent at writing content so that shouldn't be a problem and I know how to set up a decent looking website but I'm just not sure how to fit it all together.

Should it be an information site, blog, review site?

Any ideas would be great.

Do some reading first then ask some questions. It sounds like you didnt even try to learn anything on your own.

I would set-up a nice squeeze page so that you build a list as you go. From there I would take them through a small OTO funnel with a good conversion rate. Next would be a good follow-up email sequence letting your list know that you will be sending a newsletter with tips and tricks. Always lead them to your awesome site that has a section for products and services. Plus you can always mail out an offer from time to time.
Add some great modern day SEO for your site and bang you have a nice stream of income rolling in for yourself.

    Hi Rob,

I would recommend that you do the following...

For starters the weight loss industry is massive....and standing out in that market might be difficult. If I were trying to get into a niche that big I would attempt to narrow my focus...

I.e. Rather than weight loss...try weight loss for over 30s or something of the sort.

Then comes the "putting it all together" as they say. Keep it really simple.

I always encourage people to have a central blog, where you post regular content on the topic.

The aim of the content is to encourage people to sign up onto your list. That content can be syndicated around the web to drive traffic to your blog.

Make sure you end each blog post with a call to action driving people to your squeeze page.

Have a squeeze page which you drive traffic to, which offers a free tip...

When they sign up you set it up so the next thing they see is the thankyou page (Unless you are doing double optin, which in that case take them to the confirmation page.....then the thankyou page)

Have a thank you page that delivers that free tip and points them to where they can get more i.e. an affiliate offer or your own product.

Make sure you build a nice sequence in your autoresponder so that people receive the content automatically.

Hope this helps clarify some of your questions,

    Kind regards,

    Chris

    Hi Rob,

You've made a good choice first of all and that's getting into a niche that you are passionate about and have knowledge. When potential customers ask you questions, you can establish trust with quality answers.

People wont buy from those who dont know what they are talking about!

So, next, how are you going to bring your buyers and sellers together?

I see you are considering building a website. In order for your products to sell, you'll need a superb well thought out site. If you are not building the site yourself, this can be expensive.

And you'll need to drive traffic to it.

There are many ways of driving traffic to your site, Facebook ads, PPC on major search engines, PPV, Solo ads, even newspaper ads can work amazingly well.

However, I suspect by doing this you will be leaving a huge amount of money on the table. What you are doing is "hit and run" marketing. You are spending your money driving traffic to your site, and then either one or two things will happen. They will buy something or they wont.

    Most wont.

Most often people buy things from people or brands they trust in, its make the whole "buying experience" more enjoyable and trustworthy.

The most commonly used successful method used by internet marketers is:

    1. Create a squeeze page, drive traffic to it and give away something of value, a free ebook concerning the subject matter in question. Straight away you'll gain their appreciation.
    2. Capture each lead and build a list. Deploy auto responders to your list which contain interesting and useful content. This is the "relationship" building process.
    3. After a few weeks, in an auto responder, introduce a product, or website that solves the readers problem. The chances are, now you have built your reputation with your list, they'll buy something from you.

Any successful internet marketer will tell you "the money is in the list!"

If you do the hit and run method you could very quickly burn through a huge pile of cash with little return. And thats after you have spent money building your site. This is where a lot of people can go wrong with internet marketing.

    Hope this helps.

Do exactly the same as you would for every niche

Create a squeeze page and a free offer and link to a front end product on the thank you page

At the same time build your blog out so it can be used as a content platform for your subscribers

This process works like a charm and all you have to focus on is sending traffic to your squeeze page and creating good content for your blog

I would never heavily get into sending traffic direct to sales pages as your conversions will be dreadful and it is such a waste of traffic

Actually I am not sure what is the relation here with affiliate marketing. If you want to start affiliate marketing why not you are going through the basic of them. I prefer the article for you now -

Affiliate Marketing Strategies You Should Know!

For general statement, you can start by selecting a specific product or a specific type of products. Secondly, start a blog or website for it. Build a list and start creating backlinks.

I have a diet product on the market and my best affiliate makes 5-6 sales a day from a single YouTube video he posted (that I made!). He does nothing else but collect 3k to 4k or so a month from that single video. I have a few diet/fitness blogs of my own that promote my product but when everything is said and done, that affiliate sells more than I personally do during the month.

Wow, good going. Does he use a direct affiliate link or does it go to his own site?
