Has anyone has this issue with FileZilla?

When I try to connect to my FTP (filezilla) to transfer some files over to my wordpress website, filezilla did the following:

Status: Connecting to (my server ip address)
Error: Connection timed out
Error: Could not connect to server
Status: Waiting to retry...
Status: Connecting to (my server ip address)
Error: Connection timed out
Error: Could not connect to server

I've browsed through their forum for answers and it's been no help at all. If anyone has a solution or a resource that I could check out that'd be awesome.

    Your IP is probably being blocked for failed login attempts if the server is online. Can you browse to the IP in your browser?

        The IP that you're tring to connect to...put it in your browser and see if it resolves to a server/page.

        You can also open a command prompt & type: ping IPADDRESSHERE

        If you get a reply back, then you need to get in touch with your host. If you don't get a reply, you need to get in touch with your host as well to figure out why you can't connect to the server.

          I put my ip address (to my host) that I'm trying to connect to and it sent me to a blank page that says pageok

          As far as the command prompt goes, I'm not sure how I'd go about doing that on firefox.

          Would I open up a scratch pad and do it that way?

          Never had a problem with it. Check the FTP settings of the host you're trying to connect to.

    hahahaha...i don't like with Filezilla...i prefer FireFTP from Mozilla...that's recommended

    If you use Window, just go to Start -> Run ... -> type cmd OR Start -> R -> type cmd
    AND type ping xx.xxx.xxx.xxxx

    Which xx.xxx.xxx.xxxx is your server IP Address

    Log into your Cpanel, and go into your folders -upload the file through there.
    I've never had a problem doing this..

      Agree, the file upload and download via cpanel is a great time saver and I find more reliable than FTP PC software.

      Depending on your cpanel features, you can zip up entire sites and download the zip in one or two clicks. Same with uploads. Upload the zip file then uncompress it in a jiffy.

    Thanks everyone for all of your replies.

    I've contacted GoDaddy and have reset my password
    Deleted and then re-installed the latest version of FileZilla
    and it still didn't work!

    until..

    I went to my girlfriends house and signed into FileZilla easily! I'm definitely thinking my modem/router (it's an all in one) is blocking my host ip address. Hopefully my internet service provider can take care of this.

      It's unlikely it is the IP. It is probably the PORT!

    you should use FireFTP..that's better than Filezilla....

      Are you using a firewall ? If so you should add filezilla to accepted connections.

    Issue Resolved!

    My internet service provider is Comcast/Xfinity. We're renting the all in one modem/router and apparently the firewall settings were set to Maximum security.

    After countless calls back and forth form GoDaddy back to Comcast - Comcast finally put me in touch with a technician who reduced the Firewall settings within the modem/router and VOILA! FileZilla worked!

    If anyone else has had this issue, maybe this is what was going on!
