My site hit #1 - need advice

Hi everyone,

Over the weekend one of my sites has just claimed the #1 spot on google.

It's been 5 or 6 weeks since I put a few articles on the site (all outsourced), and with absolutely no back linking I was surprised to see it at #1.

At the moment, it is a typical exact match domain (.org), and is in a niche I know nothing about. I have Adsense up there now making a few dollars.

I am looking for ideas on how to monitize the site better.

The topic is for people looking for training in a specific kind of trade machinery. This is something people train and study for at different institutions, so I'm not sure an eBook is what they would be after?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Capture leads and sell them to those institutions. You'd need to work out a commission structure but that could bring in some dollars.

can you sell local traffic to local businesses in the area. Lease out the site monthly for awhile?

E-book is one option, second option is selling ad space to local business providing such training.

Adsense pay well for educational ads from colleges, uni's, tafe etc.

I think the most realistic way for you to monetize this site would be with high paying adsense keywords and selling banners.

I would go straight to click bank and see ebooks that relate to that niche. Then become an affiliate and boom...the commissions start coming in

Please do not use affiliate links in signatures

There would be nothing on CB for this type of niche.

Produce more articles content to get your website in the #1 spot in more keywords and getting more traffic.
For a test, maybe you can find a related ebooks to promote as an affiliate, or you can hire a writer to write ebooks and then sell it.

How many average monthly search for that keyword? Have you researched it?

If selling ebooks is not possible then i would suggest you to create an authority site specifically for that niche. I'm sure there are some experts on that niche and you could ask them to write or contribute on your site for money or free.

Holy crap. It seems like everyone on here thinks that the ebook is the end all. Are all you marketers this myopic? The guy already mentioned the ebook is not the way to go and all anyone can think about is ebooks on clickbank. There is a much bigger world out there people.

Another example of why internet marketing helps the demise of the internet as a whole.

      Ok give me a break.

So you mean to say you bought a domain, put "some" articles, and now today when your site is in top position, you have no idea what to do ?

I think you should ask this question to yourself...why did you launch this site and worked hard on getting it on top spot ?

Getting random forum suggestions is like playing in the sand searching for gold. Many are suggesting ebooks, but everyone doesn;'t like ebooks and lengthy text books.

Seems some planning might have been in order. Being number one is relative to several things. The first and most important is the keyword it's ranking for. How many searches is it getting? Without a sufficient number of searches the whole project is a waste of time.

You haven't given enough info for intelligent comments. We have no idea what the market is and if there is a demand for any product at all. This is stuff you might want to prepare for the next time you try. Good luck.

Capture some of the traffic in an autoresponder and survey them asking what they want or need.
