    SIGNATURE FILE RULES

Sig Files are getting out of hand.

We're getting all colors of the rainbow and some people are using massive fonts...comes a time when things need to get back into line so...

    NEW SIG FILE RULES

    (1) Maximum length of sig file is 5 lines which includes any blank lines used for spaces.

EDIT: War Room members are allowed up to 6 lines.

    (2) You are only permitted 1 color in your sig file, this can be any color so long as it's black (hyper links can be blue as they come up this way on the board)

    (3) Sig files may only be written in the normal standard font size.

    (4) You may bold or italicize but that's it.

    added by admin:

    (5) No Affiliate Links Allowed - Promote Your Own Domain/s Only. It's either this or we have to cut out sig files altogether which we do not want to do.

Forum Rules - Please Read This Before Posting On The Forum

People are normally asking about "Empower" when they ask this question. I suspect you are, too?

In which case the answer's bound to be "no", I think: that's kind of an affiliate/replicated company thing, and wouldn't be allowed here, even though your blog posts are your own. As explained in the item from the rules, quoted by Mark, above, really.

Experience, and the instinct that the words "hosted blog with a company", in this context, were highly likely to turn out to mean Empower Network. (It was hardly going to be referring to blogger.com or wordpress.com, was it?)

You can create your own website and review what ever program you are in. That is fine.

But you must have your own domain name first and not use the blogging platform of EN.

Yep, just like the hundreds of other puppets sent here to advertise the same thing.
That's going to be worth while.

It sounds as though on blogger blog, a Wordpress dot com blog, or even a blog right here at the Warrior Forum can not be promoted in the sig file since the blog author doesn't really own any of those domains. Correct?

That really doesn't make any sense to me . . . but what do I know?

          No.

A whole lot more than you pretend to. You understand fully why someone should be allowed to link their blogspot.com or wordpress.com blog in their sig-file, but not to an Empower Network blog really, Steve. Blogs at blogger.com and wordpress.com are not promoting Blogger or Wordpress. A blog at Empower Network is promoting Empower Network. The product itself is the vehicle that promotes the product. It's a coroporate, replicated thingy, specifically designed for its own promotion. Or, as Marshall McLuhan used to say, perhaps a little more eloquently, "The medium is the message". I trust you to understand this, anyway, even if you don't trust yourself.

            Alexa and others,

What Allen said in the sticky note rules is (direct quote):

"Promote Your Own Domains Only" (capitalized and bolded by Allen)

Since no one owns domains at blogger, wordpress, or the Warrior Forum I think this applies. Certainly blogger is being promoted every time you go to a blogger blog.

Sure, you could say I'm nit-picking and that is really not my purpose at all. I'm just pointing out that maybe this particular rule is overly burdensome on some people who are not out to break the rules but who have chosen to use a platform that doesn't require a top level domain.

I'm really not trying to be difficult.

Point taken, Steve. I think it includes "subdomain"/"redirected domain" in cases like Blogger/Wordpress.com. They're considered hosts, just like Hostgator is, for these purposes? Empower clearly isn't just that, I'm sure you'll agree? Blogs there are specifically designed to promote the Empower opportunity.

I don't agree. I've seen Blogger blogs in which the only way you could know it was hosted there is by looking it up at who-hosts.com or an equivalent - i.e. absolutely no suggestion of "promoting Blogger" at all.

Nooooo ... didn't take you that way at all - I know you better than that. Neither am I, by the way!

Yes, maybe it is easier to just ban Empower Network from the sig line and be done with it.

      Alexa,

I understand where you're coming from completely and you have made a very sound case for what you're saying.

If there is someone on this forum that I respect and listen to always, it is you. I continue to be amazed at how you consistently offer quality credible advice.

Yes, you are allowed to do that.

Edited by moderator: No, you're not allowed to do that. The OP had a link to his blog on Empower Network. This is not allowed, and that's why his signature was edited previously.
