I see lots of people confused on what type of business plan they should follow when joining the IM world. As we were all newbies at one point, I want to share with anyone that is looking for a model to follow.
The basics of this model is to create a free product, build and grow your list, build a relationship with your list, promote useful information and products. Rinse and repeat.
It really is that simple.
First you will want to create a free product that people will want to join your list to download. Create a product that answers a problem. For example, if you are in the health/diet niche, you can create a product like "Lose 20 pounds in no time with these 14 tasty meal plans."
Creating the product is easier than you think. With so much information online, you could easily visit a handful of article sites, Squidoo lenses, Wiki's, etc.. And collect enough information to piece together a 5-10 page report.
Now you have something to promote. Now what? You need targeted traffic to your offer. This is where the fun of internet marketing comes into play. If you have some money to play with, I would consider searching for websites that have lists of their own and ask them if they would sell you a solo ad spot on their list. Do this a handful of times until your list is over 1000 subscribers. Once you reach this goal, contact other product owners in your niche and ask them if they would be interested in a list swap. Do this a few more times and your list will be well on its way.
You are probably thinking, what can I send my list while I build it up? That is easy…send them useful emails on the niche. Don't send any promotional emails yet. I would wait till you have a decent sized list. At this point, only send an email 2-3 times a week.
Rinse and repeat the solo ad method and the list swap method till you are at a number that you feel comfortable with. Keep in mind not all your subscribers will be responsive to every email you send.
Now it is time to send a promotional email. You can either send them to an affiliate product that you full trust in and have done your research. Think of it this way, would you promote this to your friends and family? If not, this is the wrong product to promote.
Or you can create a more detailed product of your own. This is the solution that I personally go with as you can stay the expert in the field while building a "buyers list." What is a buyers list? Well it is a list of people that are truly interested in the niche that you are in and have income to spend. This is what you ultimately want to build in this business model.
You now have two types of lists:
-A freebie list
-A buyers list
The main goal is to convert as many freebies into buyers. Once you have your buyers list on the go, treat these people like gold. They are your life line of the business. So don't BS them and do your research before your send them any emails.
Just a recap for you to follow:
· Create a free product
· Promote the free product
· Create a paid product
· Promote to free list
· Build your buyers list
· Rinse and repeat
There you have it, a super easy to follow business model that will help you succeed in this crazy internet marketing world. Of course there are other ways to promote your free product in which you can find here on the Warrior Forum.
Go for it and good luck!
