I can't decide if i should concetrate on traffic now or content.

Hi warriors

I'm planning on adding tutorial videos on my workout page but i'm really having difficulty finding someone to help me out with it. I tried doing it myslef tbh, but i'm a realist and know i would not fit with this kind of video despite being of ok body myslef.

i look back and see that i've been working to find someone help me out with it for 8 days. I try to tell myslef, that i'm doing things one by one and making sure not to rush, but i'm not exaclty sure if am doing the right thing. Sometimes i feel like, i'm wasting precious time.

Should I put work now on traffic even though my site still lacks a good amount of content? I try to tell myslef that i want to make the most out of every traffic by completing everything first and giving the site a chance to be visited again..but i don't know if i am doing the right thing.

I am also asking this because i am almost done with my e-book..

I would say to start with creating good content for your site. If you are generating traffic to your site and your site lacks in content (quality content), people may lose interest and move on before they have the chance to even notice your offer. Just my opinion. Good luck!

If you are almost done with an ebook that you will be selling on your site??? then if it were me I would get an optin box up on the site and on a squeeze page. There will be differing opinions about using an optin on the content site vs. using a squeeze page. My opinion is that it will depend upon where the traffic comes from and that you'll have to test that traffic to decide which works best.

Your objective is to build out a great responsive list that likes you and wants to open your emails. You can accomplish this be giving them something of value for an optin and using head shot videos on the page after the submit button and the confirmation page where the download is. Know, like and trust you - find you personable and a real person that they can connect with.

You can use a video as the giveaway product too - very easy to do with web cam and Amazon S3 is incredibly inexpensive to host. This cuts down on the amount of time you need to get the optin and giveaway finished.

When the ebook is finished and the optin and give away up and in place, then you'll have more energy to send traffic to a site that will capture their emails and find help with the tutorial videos.

Your content needs to be solid far before you drive any traffic.

Yep, content first. Even if you miraculously got a ton of traffic to your site without any decent information, what's the point? You'd be wasting all those views as people clicked away, bored with the lack of content to keep them interested. Would you want to hang out on an empty site?

Don't get in the mindset that the things you're creating now aren't moving you forward. Simply having that stuff out on the net is helping to build your business and get you more traffic. You can work on ramping it up from there once things are established.

Content first. You can begin by doing EXHAUSTIVE RESEARCH on your target audience. Study your competitors and figure out what they are doing right and how you can improve on their shortcomings.

Hmm, Accounting the majority so far I am doing it wrong.

The first thing I do is set up a squeeze page on a domain. Once it is set I start the traffic flow. Of course I block access to the rest of my site until it is ready but content can be done as the list builds

This way I have a list and have usually made several sales before the entire site goes live.

I learned the hard way about trying to have a site "complete" before attempting to draw traffic to it. There's always some addition or tweak that needs to be done before it's ready.

On the other hand, I don't go quite as far as starting with the squeeze page. I like to have some content available, and the ability to have input on future content is one of the benefits of joining my list.

Letting people tell me what they want to read helps avoid a site filled with really original, high quality content that no one gives a shit about, regardless of what some keyword tool might say...

Most of my content is via email. While it is not a good thing, most of my sites have less (freely visible) content on them than what I put on the WF.

I do have a blog I am going to try and force myself to post to this year. The beginning of my funnel kind of depends on it so I am pretty sure I will post lol.

I have noticed most of the bigger MMO guys have terribly neglected blogs. I think this is because most of them are putting their content in products and email series.

Not saying I am trying to copy them but I do see profits when I put my content into hot reports, membership areas, and emails .. not so much when I post to a blog but admittedly this is the first time in a long time I have even thought of blogging for traffic.

Even though when I think about it .. I guess I am blogging more for authority than traffic.

          I'm exactly the same.

By far the majority of the information that I give out goes to my email list, either by upfront ebooks for opting in, or as part of my email campaigns.

Slowly but surely I'm finding that I don't go to that many websites and read them any more. I have a few core sites like Wikipedia, WF, some newspaper sites etc, but I don't tend to read many independent websites anymore.

I do, however, read the emails that I get from a couple of really good marketers.

Also depends what your strategy is. If you're looking for free "organic" traffic then you have to put up content first, no?

Yeah, I rode that SEO duck till it quit quacking. It does take content if you want that type of traffic.

You can do both. Buy a little traffic and just write a lot of great content because in the end the really great content is what people learn from and what makes them buy. The really great content gets the backlinks which gets even more traffic and google rankings,
but if you need money sooner you may have to pay for traffic now.

    Content = Traffic

If you have the traffic coming to your site, you'll be in "aww" looking at your stats. While it's definitely cool to see spikes in traffic, it's not cool to see your bounce rate be as high as 80% because your content isn't there.

Bringing the users to your website is just the first step. The next step is to engage them with quality content that helps, informs, or inspires - sometimes a bit of controversy helps to keep them engaged.

Note: When it comes to fitness, everything online from articles to workout videos is really just recycled content spun into a new way of delivery. With that being said..DELIVER YOUR CONTENT DIFFERENTLY.

Do it in a way that separates you from the crowd. Maybe you wear an afrow in all of your workout videos..or you wear visors and talk with a California "surfer" accent.

Whatever your angle is, master it!

    Good luck!

    - Chris

Quality content is the main core of your website.
You need to create quality of contents before you generate traffic.
Because traffic will be useless if you don't have enough contents.

    Content first for sure.

It's like physical stores - You wouldn't open a store to the public if you only had a couple of items on your shelf would you?

Same applies to your website, HOWEVER, avoid being a perfectionist (that's something I'm working on... new year resolution and all that... )! As long as you have a nice variety of related, and quality content that will see your visitors through until you add your next pieces of content, then "open the gates to the public yo".

yes go for content first- however as soon as you have "ENOUGH" start focusing on traffic. Enough content is when your target audience has something valuable on your site.

Also, piggy backing a little bit on what Troy was saying before, but i'd rather have people on my list and then give them content, because providing the emails that i'm send out to my list have really cracking content in them, I can just whack them into a blog post as well, and slowly build up my site content.

That way I get the best of both worlds, a site with great content, but also a list that I can sell to!

Finish creating content for your site, then go and get traffic for it. You don't want visitors to come to an incomplete site.

When you say "incomplete site" are you referring to a site that doesn't have content freely available?

If so, I've been making money from incomplete sales funnel sites for a long time!

The only reason (that I can think of offhand) you need to have content on your site that's freely available is if you are attempting to get organic traffic instead of paid.

If that's the case, then you're not creating the content and then getting traffic, you're creating content in the hope that it becomes the traffic.

Otherwise you're better off having a bunch of squeeze pages that you test, and then building out your site's content as your list grows and you email to them.

Take all of that content that everyone keeps telling you needs to be there for free on your site, package it up into an ebook and offer it in return for their email address.

They get the content, and you get the email address.

Why does it need to be free on the site for the taking, and why would that be considered incomplete?

I really don't post a lot of content hoping for search traffic. It's more in the line of 'extending the experience'. When someone comes to one of my sites, the first thing they see (if it's the home page) is an offer to join the list, with an incentive. That's followed by a piece of content, and an offer of more by email (and a link back to the opt-in form). I have more content, mostly to give people who aren't quite sure a chance to be sure and opt-in. Having content available also helps in securing syndication partners, I believe, because it gives them something to check out besides an EZA page.

This is basically what I do, but I create some content first to 'salt the mine' for those first arriving. Then I add content based, in part, on feedback from the folks on the list.
