Squeeze Page/List Building Technique

So I've been muling around this 3 step process mainly for someone new to list building to quickly start building a list with a squeeze page.

Step 1 -
Find a motivational/educational online video from a very well known person in a certain niche. Good piece of video content, somewhere in the public archives.

Step 2 -
Create squeeze page with the free offer being the video from step 1. Ex. "See what this TOP Internet Marketer's Key to Newbie Success Is". Direct them to the content.

Step 3 -
Possibly add a OTO, but the goal is to generate a list.

Thoughts?

Focus on your offer, and make sure you are offering them the best value possible.

This will build a better relationship with your list which will enable you to sell them more on the back end.

Just because you build a large list does not mean you will sell more. Quality is always better than quantity.

You should be focusing more on creating something which is unique to you

If you don't have anything of value to give someone else then maybe stick to a different model before you start trying to build a list

If you were to create something unique to YOU and give it away for free you would get a far better response from your list than if you just used someone else's video or content

Relationship is certainly important on your BUYERS list but not so much in your initial marketing lists. Over the last 3 years I've built a marketing list of almost 100,000 people who are not niche specific, or even really warm to me...but the list sells GREAT and I have a separate list for my buyers.

Targeting is more important than relationship in my opinion. (many will disagree) I woulden't waste resources building relationships with non-buyers.

Target your buyers with a $1 auto renewing offer or a low cost ($7 - $19) offer to identify your buyers, then move those buyers to your "relationship" list.

Your time will be much more productive.

True that! Building a relationship with non buying list is a waste of time.

I'm going to (sort of) disagree.

      > Whether you call it that or not, you ARE building relationships with your non-buyers. You can't help it. It's part of the deal.

You do have a choice as to the nature of that relationship, though. (there's the 'sort of').

The relationship you have with your buyers SHOULD be different than the one you have with non-buyers. And the resources you dedicate to nurturing those relationships will also be different. If your funnel is deep enough, your relationship with your first-time buyers will be different than it is with people who have purchased several products at higher price and commitment levels.

You want to connect with your subscribers as soon as possible. What better way to do that than to create your own quality report. It's brain dead simple to do, and an essential part of gaining that initial trust and credibility.

You get my point. With these templates it's very easy to write a short report to give away on your squeeze page/blog/whatever. They must be quality reports though - otherwise there's no point.

I think it's a great way to use another expert to get the right audience, but I am finding that over a period of time you want people to really follow you and your knowledge based on the fact that you are going to resell them over and over and over with the upsells, but finding smart people in the niche is a great idea.

I think it would be more effective if you offered the video as a the giveaway but also offered a critique of the video and why it's good, this will eliminate buyer's remorse of the people who opt-in to your list and they will trust YOU more instead of the marketer in the video.

Oh ya, and instead of offering an OTO I would use email promotions to sell it instead of directly after they opt-in, just my opinion though as I'm sure the effectiveness of this strategy depends on the niche
