wordpress membership - different subscription rates depending on location?

5 replies
Hey all;

I'm building a wordpress site for a client and they want to have different subscription rates depending on where the subscribers are from.

Eg;

product A - free to UK subscribers
product A - $15/mth to US subscribers

so, same product, different subscription rates.

any ideas?

Thanks,
Austin.

    Set up a multi-user site for each country. Then use backup buddy to clone the same content repeatedly after people reach an initial site asking people where they live. Question: if the people pay because they live in one country, what happens when they find out people in another get the same service for free?

    Thanks Andy - it's for an industry magazine so there'll lots of content being updated on the site. I need to keep it all in one really.

    As it's invite only we don't perceive any problems with subscribers trying to 'spoof' countries.

    Here is an idea...

    Why not use something to "filter" your visitors depending on their country...

    For example you could use Charles Kirkland and Jason Parker's "WP Traffic Control" plugin or you could use a "link redirect software" such as Jayson Benoit's Quality Click Control.

    What this would allow you to do is say "click here to subscribe" then after clicking the software would redirect them to the country appropriate page.

    As for the membership side of it I have used WordPress Membership Plugin | Membership Software For WordPress Blogs And HTML/PHP Sites and FusionHQ Internet Business Platform with good results.

    Hope this helps

    Cheers,
    Coby
