Video Marketing On YouTube

Hey everyone...quick question. I dabbled in some Clickbank stuff on my blog averaged a sale or 2 a day. Wasn't too bad. I got lazy & two of the products I was selling ended up getting removed from Clickbank. So my little bit of income from there stopped.

Anyway, I'm really into video now & I know people are doing affiliate stuff with YouTube, but how? I realize my question may seem basic, but where this is concern, it's quite new to me. I know that YouTube doesn't technically allow affiliate links. So do people just use a link shortener? Redirects? Any help would be appreciated.

Also, what is link "cloaking" and should this be something I need to concern myself with at this point?

I use URL shorteners and it works fine

I use tinyurl because I can pick the extension at the end, which I usually make my keyword.

    Hope this helps

Last I checked, link shorteners in the descriptions are fine. Not sure with the annotation feature linking to your associated website though.

I've seen people use direct links to their websites.
    I think its OK !

Why would a shortner be OK but direct link be bad makes no sense both point to the same thing haha.

To be safe(r), get a website and domain name and put up a "presales" page on it, then add a link to it from your Youtube video.

If for some reason you can't afford hosting and a domain name, get a blogger blog and use it until you can afford your own site.

I just checked youtube. If you use the associated website annotation feature, it should go to your associated website. Not a different one, otherwise they'll remove the video.

video marketing is pretty simple concept to directy answer your question

    1) Easier to get Youtube videos to top searches
    2) 2nd, Youtube is the 2nd biggest search tool on-line
    3) Less competition in niches on Youtube than Search

So in essence, all 3 of these incubate better sales.

I'm currently setting up to do some new things with YT. Good Luck.

It's safe if you get a domain/site of your own.

Another thing you should consider is, the quality of your video. How you present it matters alot to it's overall success.

I would just get a domain name, and possibly some free hosting from freehostia, and redirect visitors to your affiliate link - that's hiding behind your domain name link.

Ok...so maybe...setup my affiliate link in something like pretty link on my domain, and just direct traffic to the pretty link? Did I follow you right? also, I would have no problem creating a pre-sales page if that's what it took

    Hey Ted,

Pretty much what you just said, use prettylink to either redirect or have viewers land on a squeeze/landing page. It's a good idea to add a link to your domain/redirect in your channel page as well.

As I understand it you can't put links to your own domain in annotations unless you are a partner.

You can also monetise your actual video by associating your YouTube and adsense accounts.

I think if you are directing it to your landing page it can be a short video and if you are putting a direct link or redirect to the offer it should be a longer video. It is better to use a shortener but many people do not click on url shorteners in which case it is better to have your domain feature in the description.
