How does payment works on adwords and the like?

Hi I have a site and I want to send some traffic into it.
It's a landing page with an optin for email list building.

Do we pay them every month?
Or can we like pay them $50 worth credit in advance and advertise our site and only stop until all my ads reach the amount equivalent to $50 too?

I'll only have $20 as of now for advertising capital so I don't really want to go over that fee.

They don't require minimum payments right? Or am I wrong?

I originally planned on using fiverr to spread the link through facebook but after seeing some related threads about it where they got a hacker on their site now, I think I'd go with adwords now.

    You will require to set per day spend limits and it's all up to you.

    There used to be coupons going around for $25 or maybe $50. I
    can't recall off the top of my head. I know facebook still offer
    them and you can find guys selling them on Fiverr.

    If you don't have a coupon then you have to have a credit card
    with them and they bill you monthly. You can set daily limits so
    if you only have a budget of $20 then $5 a day but depending on
    the keywords and the competition it might not last too long.

    I'd say on your limited budget try Facebook and grab a $50 coupon
    off Fiverr.

      Uhh I'm still new to this so from what I understood, I buy $5 coupon from fiver for facebook ads that are worth $50? So I won't have to pay anything at all for facebook now as long as I give that $50 coupon right?

      Besides FB any other advertisers you know I can get a voucher from fiverr too?
