If you're talking about the The Truth About Abs guy, the fact is that he works extremely hard, didn't make his first sale until the four-month mark, and is a demon for split-testing.

Some people may make a quick buck, even a few quick bucks, but the days when you can just put up a sleazy sales page and rake in the cash are over. There's a reason why the people who are doing well are doing well.

I think that long work hours are not the same as working smart.

If the guy who makes a lot with the sleezy sales pages actually knows what he iis doing, then that is fair.

Since that guy probably spent tons of money and time learning everything while the other guy might be just starting out.

Business online is like business offline: you don't get rewarded just for hard work: you get rewarded for doing what works.

In online businesses, analysis, adaptation, communication, quality and relevance are the things that typically determine incomes.

People who learn, adapt and focus on their weak points tend to progress and flourish: people who want to stay well within their comfort-zone and concentrate only on their stronger points (unless they're very lucky indeed with their strengths) tend eventually to fall by the wayside, some even believing that it was because they weren't "rewarded fairly".

I think the same kind of thing can happen in offline too. It is very exceptional and happens to a few. You will see most of the people in internet who are making a lot of money, they are making it after their hard work only.

There is no magic push button. It all takes hard work.

Although having a good idea and the ability ($$$) to outsource the things that you cannot do or don't have the time to do is a big help.

It took him years to become an "overnight success" - even with those dodgy sales pages. Have some respect, man.

Its all depend on hard work. I still believe on doing the right thing.

dodgy lol. instead of whining about successful marketers, how about you study them, see what works for them and why it works, and use that information to improve your own business?

I'm sure that you're aware that in online fitness circles, The Truth About Abs is seen as the ultimate con. The only people who are buying that crap are the same people who stop working out after a week, which is why Mike Geary has been "successful". Market a garbage product to the least-educated and most-gullible irrational consumers, then profit (isn't this the real dogma for Internet Marketing?).

Also, don't believe what he claims about his online income. I read the interview he had with Tim Ferris (the ultimate shiller) and was amazed at the amount of crap these 2 can put up. Likewise, Tim Ferris' book is regarded as rehashed garbage in the same fitness circles that look down on The Truth About Abs, so these 2 prove that if you know your consumer, you can sell them just about anything.

I'm not involved in the fitness industry nor have products, I'm just a fitness enthusiast who has achieved a real 8-pack (not 6-pack) by training for months at a time doing compound exercises, sprints and having a low carb routine. I've also studied nutrition/training in-depth as a hobby, and can spot a fitness shiller/con-artist/quack from a mile away.

There are many real fitness experts who are not recognized for their work; work which guys like Tim Ferris have stolen, re-hashed and marketed to the gullible mass.

Lastly, don't forget the guys loaded on steroids and stimulants (e.g. Mike Chang from Shortcub Abs) who rely on their shortcutted body to give the illusion of knowledge.

Yes there is no such thing as the "overnight success." People who make it online or offline have some times been planning their business for years.

Both online and offline businesses require marketing and it is often how successful you are doing this, that allows your business to become successful.

All these dodgy or sleezy operators should be named and shamed,in my opinion.

It's all about timing and getting the right move. If you work hard and didn't get paid off then I guess you need to change your strategies. Its a matter of trial and error.

You're probably right, and if you know as much as you say you do about fitness products, then maybe Mike Geary does deliver a dodgy product.

I think where everybody is taking exception is with "while some other guy creates a few dodgy sales pages and becomes a millionaire" which has to be crap.

If that's all it took, then every new IM'er would be a millionaire many times over, because boy do they ever put up a few crap sales pages!

In order to make any money selling ANY product you need to know your market inside out and how to market to them.

And since I've personally never seen a sales page kill it on the first run, then I reckon Mike has split tested like a *******, which is why he's gotten the results he has.

On the net these days, even the dodgy guys have to be smart and work like crazy. It's just too competitive.

By the way, I agree with you on Tim Ferris. To my mind he's a shonk. But boy can he sell!

I would also emphasize that there is a large difference between working hard and working smart and it looks to me as if he did both.

His website is not pretty, but it works because it is simple and easily market segments between men and women.

The internet and offline world should remain free to let the market decide.

What I think is sad is how much some folks dwell upon and subsequently end up resenting the success of others - doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

I don't know anything about the abs product, so can't comment on that one, but we see the same thing everyday with some of the biggest game changers online.

Instead of bemoaning their success over your own, you ought to be focusing on learning as much as you can about the strategies and methods they used to become so successful. Then spend that time adapting what they did to your own system and tweak/test it until you're getting the results you want.

It doesn't hurt to admit to yourself that maybe, just maybe, they're worth following rather than hating.

Mike worked his guts out to get where he is now, he's been selling truthaboutabs with tunnel vision since 2005, the product is actually good, he is a qualified nutritionist who knows his stuff. He just also happens to be very good at selling, he's inspired me greatly, with the main thing I learnt from him is "keep doing the simple things right, and focus on doing these things over and over everyday".......

You can have the best product in the world, but if nobody knows about it you won't sell jack, on the other hand, you can have a half baked product and if you know how to market you'll make some $$$.......

Internet marketing is not all about hard work you put in, its all about working smart, even just like offline. if you work hard on the wrong direction will just get your finger burn at the end of the day. So for your information, you need to redirect your thinking and learn how to work smart. cheers
