Are IM lists effective with direct sales?

I have never used lists before to sell IM products and before I spend a small fortune testing I'd like to hear some opinions.

If promoting a product, is it more effective to offer something free with a sale at the end or to just send someone directly to a product squeeze page.

What works best with a list of buyers? IM niche of course.

Why would you need to spend a small fortune testing? What are you paying for -- the list itself?

No, I don't have a list yet, so I would be buying a solo to send to a squeeze page to help build my list and then forward them to the offer. Which is about $35 per 100 clicks on average.

This can work like charm if your copywriter is good.

Building your list is another great way to maximize profit, am yet to see a strategy to close sales perfectly like follow ups.

So would you say it's better to offer free products first to build up your list because they have to opt-in first so you can resell or once you get their email address pitch them the offer because you can always do follow ups for the same product.

Perhaps offer something for free WITH the offer?

Don't just build a list and immediately start selling.

Build a relationship with them, provide lots of value, earn their trust, then you can sell.

Solo ads = low quality traffic wouldn't waste my time with it if I were you.

Do solo ads list make for low quality traffic because it isn't necessary a list of buyers?
