Where Did The Star-Ratings in Clickbank's Marketplace Go?!?

34 replies
Is it just me, or are the vendor star ratings already gone in Clickbank's marketplace? Has CB already gone ahead and scrapped this feature less than two weeks after debuting it?

I'm not surprised if they are gone, I'm surprised CB even put them into place and I knew some of the bigger vendors wouldn't take it lightly so hopefully CB is trying to find a middle ground that actually works.

      yeah, just noticed. I suppose they were losing money from vendors, sometimes transparency is not profitable. Now, when do they stop unnecessary refunds...

    What's funny to me is the refund rating system I was green a few days ago and now I'm red unacceptable for some apparent reason.

    I have not even had 1 refund kind of funny.

    They really need to work on straightening the bugs out with that system or most of there affiliates will probably go elsewhere.

    Star rating has already been removed but Risk Management Tier is still there. Hopefully, they will reconsider and remove risk tier soon! My account also turns to unacceptable and predicted chargeback rate keeps increasing everyday. Actually, I do not have any chargeback transaction for about 1 month already.

    Some of their servers are down for maintenance......so we could see those stars reappear by the end of the day.

    Thanks Luke for notifying me of that and yes the star ratings have disappeared for me as well. I noticed that my affiliate account was borderline and they originally said the points system would start from the 2nd January. I checked on the second and it has said since then that it will come into force on the 2nd March.

    What are Clickbank uo to these days?

    Now imagine the horror you can't sell "Google Sharpshooter" anymore because people avoid it due to only one star.... Anyway...argument is valid, the stars MIGHT cost them sales.

      Sorry, I can't remember, now. I just happen to know, in my own mind, that I've been told they're "postponed".

      I know I saw something about it - right at the start of the month, give or take. Can't even remember now whether it was in an email, on their site, on their blog, or possibly even just something a manager there mentioned to me informally. Sorry, I'm not much use to you for this question. :rolleyes:

    Maybe they are realizing that this ratings system is causing their revenues to plummet and massive loss of affiliates and vendors and they are hitting the panic button.

    I predict they modify the ratings system to remove the termination aspect or at least make it much less strict

      You may be thinking of the Risk Tiers which will begin at the earliest March 2013. This is stated in our ClickBank accounts and at Refunds and Chargebacks

      I've not seen any notice about Star Ratings but my ClickBank contact says they have been temporarily removed while ClickBank refine the algorithm to take better account of the lifetime history of accounts.

      .

    Accounting for longevity seems an important factor to consider. Google has done the same in their consideration of terminating accounts.

    This rating system is new so there are likely to be tweaks from time to time. I'm hoping the stars stay.
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[7620608].message }}
    • I think the ratings system is opening up a huge hole, even perhaps a huge hole in their pockets too, because they alienate the other vendors whom may be great product owners. There are many products probably with very few sales that are having 5 stars ratings... now what does that mean? I mean if you have sales in high volume there will be refunds inevitably. I think it would be rather unfair to the existing vendors even if their product is top notch. It just seems to me that the system is attacking the problem with another problem instead of looking into improving the existing clickbank system that works with the vendors, affiliates and themselves.

    I could imagine the star system was killing sales, I have seen great products in there with low stars and relly suck product with 4 and 5 star ratings.

    I suspect that a lot of veteran product vendors where losing points daily and were sending angry emails to them because they have been clickbank vendors for 5+ years

    I think the whole star rating system is crap.

    Why not allow buyers to submit direct feedback about the products they buy? Just like on Amazon.

    Clickbank needs more transparency and less BS.

      I agree, they should have a feedback system similar to Amazon. Customers can then decide if they should buy something based on that feedback.
      {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[7623264].message }}
      • A customer reviewed system is always better then having an algorithm to review a product, it is meaningless. I think amazon's success with their review system proves to be something worth learning.

    I agree a customer review system would be a good option also, it would force a lot of vendors to provide a better quality product if they don't want a lot of negative feedback.

      The star system wasn't remotely dependable as a basis for judging quality products.

      You'll know which products are quality after you purchase them. Afterall, you'll only want to be promoting products you can actually speak for yourself right?

      Generally speaking, I think it's a change for the better.

      That's true.

      I'm just glad they reached the conclusion that it wasn't a good move.
      {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[7631195].message }}

    So what is the conclusion we are to draw from this. If you have an orange/red rating you might get terminated, you might not? Still very vague, but better I guess than the original panic inducing nonsense.

    Clickbank clearly went overboard originally and are now adjusting things.

    If they can get away with as few account terminations as possible and still lower refund rates/chargebacks across the board this is the best thing for everyone.
