How often do you send to your list?

Hey warriors!

How many follow-up messages do you have in your autoresponder and do you send them every day or every two days or...? I have 7 follow-up messages and send them every two days...

Second, how often do you send broadcasts to your list? I send them 3 times per week...

For couple of software products we have, we mail a new signup on signing up, seven days after signup, and then once a week for about a month. After that, we only mail once there is a major update. That's because after that time, most people who need to be using our product are already using it (I'd love to get some advice on whether I'm doing this wrong though).

I've had good success with that, the goal being more interaction from people who have signed up. I used to manage a couple of lists an year or so ago and I was mailing people once a week with good results. For a deals site, you may mail people when you want to. Better yet, just ask them to set a frequency.

For most marketing lists, I think once or twice a week would be more than enough. At the start though, the frequency of the messages can be high to build some trust and then it goes down. Talkbiz is a great example of newsletter that gets it almost perfect (there's no schedule as such but it doesn't feel like it's sent too often).

Also, I'd tolerate a higher frequency if the content is worth it. I don't think too many people would complain about Seth Godin's content though he posts just about everyday.

The perfect balance would be when people are looking forward to your next e-mail. :-)

I used to have a lot of messages already pre-written in my auto-responder to go out automatically. Then every time I wanted to send a broadcast, I would but my subscribers were already getting a ton of email.

So I actually deleted all of them but left the first message to go out once the person has subscribed.

I now write a message to them almost every other day but I also make sure that I give them great content and not just sales pitches.

I send emails on days 1, 3, 6, 10 and 15 and then every 5 days. It suits me, and my subscribers. But that doesn't matter.

What matters is that whatever you do needs to match your subscribers' expectations, which to a large degree you get to set yourself, before, while and immediately after they opt in.

It matters whether 15% of your subscribers, or 90% of them, expect, look forward to, open, read and pay attention to your email. Marketers who understand that are going to earn (at least) six times as much from their lists as those who don't.

This is very true. One of the main factors of success is consistency. If they expect an email every 2 days then send one at the same time every day. If only once a week make it the same time every week. If they are habitually used to seeing your email on waking or going to bed and it contains relevant content to the subscriber then you will fair much better.

It depends on your product or service. We usually send bulk emails when we have new products, any updation, promotion and holiday blessings.

Most of our lists start at once every two days, move to twice a week and settle to twice a month after the first two months.

I really want to give the point of view of a subscriber.

Something very important that happens to us as subscribers is that there are times when I have a singular attention to certain emails that I open right away. That instant attention comes from the very same day I subscribe to whoever guy I subscribe to.

The first impression is a extremely important part to get opens almost blindly. When the content, training or gift your are providing is really good and attractive, that will really get my attention to all of the emails I will get from that guy.

Wherever thing you are trying to give away on the niche in order to get the lead has to be very good, with high quality. And also over deliver if possible. People are just to get the same thing all the time. If you make the difference that will set you apart.

Something very important is that you must offer free stuff, more training, another cool gift, a video of yourself explaining something so people may know your face and feel you are their friend.

You can promote products but promote stuff that has a lot of value. Not just for the commission.

And finally you have to know your list. The sending is up to your own list. but Don´t go more than 1 email per day. you can do something like days: 1 2 3, 5 6 7, 9 10 11.

Please let me know what other cool things I can tell you as a subscriber.

      Have a great day

Depending on your intention. To make sales or build relationship.
    I do it concurrently,
My case: 4 follow-up emails with solid information, followed by a product pitch. So far so good.

Nowadays with so much crap solo ads running, it is kind of difficult to build relationship. They might just discard the email account after a while.
