Hi guys, Got a new niche I am about to go into and heres the thing...the primary keyword is dominated by a site that has keyword.com. Amazingly enough keyword.org is available. I kind of find it strange that a dominating site wouldn't have snatched up the .org but they havn't. Question is, would I do well by taking the keyword.org site or would I be running into trouble that I am not forseeing. Should I take primary keyword.org or somethingelse.com?

If it's not trademarked, I'd risk the $8 and register the .org. You can always use another name later if you change your mind.

Agreed. .org does well in the search engines and it's a commodity within itself.

Are you sure about that? According to the WHOIS record, it's been registered for years.

    However, it is pending deletion.

I have great success with using .org domain names for getting ranked in the search engines. I also have a .org domain that I use for word of mouth type advertising and don't seem to have a problem.

Thomas I am not talking about keyword.org...just using keyword as a placeholder.

I registered .org domains if it is related or can be relate to an organization. Make a twist to make a niche be an organization. In visitors view, you can be the authority of that niche depends on your layout and content.
