How to promote a language teaching site?

I have a website with language courses that I am now ready to find potential customers for.

Do you have any suggestions for how to best market this website? I need to get some traffic right away, so SEO isn't really the answer right now.

I am thinking solo ads, but how do I find lists with people who may want to learn my language?

Advertising on other language courses that have good traffic. Could be costly, I reckon.

Maybe Adwords?

What else could I do?

I would love to see a link to the site, send me a PM.

I have often thought about doing this, but I have to tell you, I think you have a lot of competition in this niche, (big competition.)

      Best of luck to you!

    It's just for one language.

Learn Greek Online. Learn the modern Greek language

    I embrace competition!

Now, what do you suggest for getting targeted customers quickly? The site is not new, so it has traffic, but some new features will soon be available that I think will improve the sign-up rate.

The site is for those who understand English but want to learn Greek. It could be that they are/will be moving to Greece, or that they have family who speak Greek and they want to be able speak the language better. Another reason could be they want to work in Greece for a while. Employers may request they study the language, etc.

Hi Waterburn, I notice that your site actually already has quite good traffic. Your rank is quite high in Alexa (unless Alexa report is wrong). Perhaps work on sales conversion rather than increasing traffic.

One of the easiest way to test the water is, let them sign up, download and use it for a month. If they like it, then they can pay to extend.

Another way to bait is use paypal subscription method. Tell them first month is free and they have 30 days to cancel before you are taking money from their subscription.

If you want to use paid traffic PPC would be the best and most effective. If it's free traffic you can promote your site with press releases, forums and blog comments/ posts.

What about advertising on sites that are ranking better than me for language courses?

Or what about an affiliate system, and ask other teaching sites to add my site with their affiliate code, or send it to their members via email?

Here's a great idea, think about parallel markets. Think holiday providers, Greek Tourist Sites (and forums) think about why someone might want to learn Greek and target their why. I know the economy in Greece is on it's knees at the moment, so how about finding parallel affiliates in Greece itself, offer them a good commission on every sale (at least 50%, increase your prices if you have to) and get them to promote the product for you. It's a good time to cross promote via holiday companies, as January is typically when they start selling summer holidays...

    Hope that helps!

Yes, Adwords is great and you just need to go to Google and search for a coupon then you go to Google keyword tool and search for the most targeted keywords for you product in exact match. Please do not bother about competition since we are after hight ctr to lower our cost per click.

    Set up the campaign

Use the keywords in exact match in your campaign.
Create two ads to test them against each other
Get a domain name with the main keyword included in it
Build a landing page for each individual keyword

It cannot be done as long as there is Adsense on the site.

If you want to get the fastest results, I would suggest you use Google adwords and Yahoo Adcenter (PPC) to get your website out there. This is the best and easiest way to get traffic now.

For the long terms, you can use videos and articles to promote your website. This will take longer to see results but it is all worth it if you have a lot of content out there. These strategies are perfect for the long term.

You can also try newspaper ads for promoting yours site. If you classifieds it may come out to be cheaper than PPC.

    I would go 2 ways:

    a) How to videos, videos explaining basic phrases or pronunciation that it is always a pain in the you know where.

    b) Cheat sheets with phrases for students, with pick up lines, with phrases for turist and share them in Reddit, you will see the traffic.

Google Adwords able to be cheap if you able to find your niche and your quality score is high . If no , you going to paid too much for low conversion rate.
Why not you using youtube and social media to generate traffic while I believe video and image work well to deliver your language course .
