Hope Im Going Down The Right Track

Hey everyone,

I’m a newbie to IM, I have read a couple of books and got some great advice from a member here but I’m kind of at the point where the real technical work starts, so was hoping a some of you very kind folk on here couple spare me a couple of minutes of precious time.

I was recommended to write an information product as it’s supposedly the quickest way to get the ball rolling. I think I should be OK at writing as I have a background of reports/assignments from my University days and Accounting exams over the last couple of years, and I generally enjoy writing.

So I have suffered my whole life with a stutter/stammer (still have it but I have learned to live with it and be happy), hence stuttering is what I chose to be my niche, it makes sense to write about something which you know intimately. I spent all last week, 10 hours a day, putting together a draft copy of approx 11,000 words. It basically covers my real life experiences as a stutterer, how to learn to control it and desensitise your fears in your mind, no magic promised, it’s just the stuff that works for me and should work for any stutterer. I will continue to tweak it until I’m happy.

As far as I’m aware, I need to build a ‘squeeze page’ and this page will offer a free tips sheet or similar, in turn I will gather email addresses and build a list, then link through to my sales page. Along with setting up an autoresponder to send out emails to potential customers. Does that sound correct? Getting traffic to the site seems to be a problem everyone has, as a newbie I can see this as my major challenge – that’s cool, I like a challenge :-)

I’m going to start the process of setting up the site set up now and dealing with domain names/hosting, email service, autoresponders etc. This the first site I will have ever set up, I’m pretty good with adapting to new things and challenges so I can’t see it being a problem for me to learn new things, hopefully I won’t make too many mistakes, as they say, mistakes = time, and time = money.

I guess this post was just to give myself the feeling that I’m going down the right track, of course I will make lots of errors on the way and learn as I’m going along, but I don’t want to be stuck reading and reading as I feel I could potentially sap up a lot of time. I need to get into action and get moving. Any tips or words of wisdom will be greatly welcomed. I will surely be back on here asking for advice on specifics in due course, as well as sharing what I learn along my ride with you guys.

Cheers folks

Usman

I think that you are on a right path my friend, keep on going and you will make many mistakes, just don´t let those stop you, as long as you take action, you have a good
    chance to achieve your goals.

Sounds like a fantastic idea, especially since you actually have experience in what you're writing about. You don't seem to be afraid to forge ahead and learn the stuff you need to do to get it done. Wish you much success on this project.

You could not do better! It is always good to start by something you like, because you show yourself as an expert, or in that case someone who lives the problem and found solutions.
Now just need to split test your squeeze page and try to get a maximum of conversion out of your list.
    Best luck!

I have to say that you are doing it extremely well. You made a really good decission of writing about something that you have personally experienced and know about. That definately makes sure that you know what you are talking about (in your guide). I wish you good luck with your launch.

Your plan looks good. Just stick to it and don't give up! Youtube is a great source of traffic before you get ranked for keywords.

Don't worry! You're on the right track because
you plan to create a squeeze page and build an email list!
It is a smart move right from the start!
You can also start a blog about your niche,
and since you like to write that would be
    good solution for you!
You primary goal should be creating an email list,
so maximize your efforts on building traffic to your squeeze page.

In my opinion focusing on any possible solution or alleviation of the symptoms is the best way to give your subscribers what they want and thereby keep them engaged...

It is fantastic that you have/are experiencing the same difficulties as those you are trying to help. This really is a master stroke to succeeding.

Personally I would not send people to a sales page right off the cuff (if this is what you have in mind.) You will get 10 different perspectives from 10 different marketers on that but I much prefer to send tons of great content via your autoresponder first. Or set up a 7-10 day autoresponder series that leads to the sale of your product.

The biggest pains, frustrations and obstacles you face everyday with your current symptoms are likely to be similar to those of your subscribers. This is a massive advantage to you that I hope you leverage for all it's worth.

Excellent job and it will be nice to hear your progress.
