What Guarantee is there that a VPS is better than Shared Hosting?

I have several questions on VPS versus shared hosting.

Is a VPS better than Shared Hosting?

I have a number of websites and I am wanting IP diversity on my websites so I have been purchasing shared hosting platforms from different companies. (I have six hosting companies currently)

Are there any benefits for VPS vs shared? (Or even a dedicated server?)

I have around 20 other websites that I want to upload, and I would prefer not to have 20 different hosting companies a sthat would be very pricy...more money than a dedicated server, but my goal is the IP diversity.

What are your thoughts?

Please feel free to message me privately or share on this thread.

Thanks!

There is none. The purpose of a VPS is to have isolation & root access. "IP Diversity" is pointless if everything is on the same server or even in the same datacenter. Focus on content and not IP addresses, as there are many other ways to track linked sites, many.

In some cases & depending on the provider and specs of the VPS, you may find that there's a decrease in performance however. (sometimes, not all).

A VPS vs dedicated will not always be "one is better than the other". A node to run multiple VPS's would be something like a Quad Xeon E3-1270 - whereas if you were to purchase this to run as just a dedicated server for a few sites it would be a massive waste of resources since you may use .01% of the processing power.

VPS is helpful when you need root access or need more bandwidth. I think that what you need is a dedicated server with different ips and this is a costly option.

There's no difference between a dedicated server with more IP's & a VPS with multiple IP's. You're adding a hardware layer and possibly higher price tag, nothing more.

I think google is smart enough now and IP diversity won't help much, they can also look up for whois record on your domains to determine your network. You just need to build up good websites with quality content and you can host all of them in one VPS

I'm having some VPS running with WHM/Cpanel and host many sites. IMO, with VPS you can deploy/manage/ and maintain your sites easier than shared hosting. I usually use SSH commands to access my VPS and install Wordpress websites/backup/clone ...etc in few minutes. These tasks will take you a lot of time if you are on shared hosting.

      Hello,

The name says it all. VPS - Virtual Private Server, which means you get a server. What you do with it after all is your business. Running a Web Server services is just one option out of many.

Hosting on the other hand is just that. You get some webspace (IP, and some Web services, such as WebMail, etc.) assigned to you.

      That's all.

Now, there are some advantages to have a VPS and run Web services on it. Flexibility, isolation are just some of them.

      good luck

If you are using these websites as a Backlink netwerk then you will want to have different IP C-classes.

You can find a good amount of hosting providers that can offer you this and your websites will still be in one place.

I'm not sure how far Google goes with checking how related these websites are, but different nameservers and whois protection will work to your benefits in the long run, but it's going to cost.

If these are your personal websites and you just want one stable source to keep them, then simply pick one good host and go with a reseller account or VPS. I wouldn't bother with separating if you are not going to use them for Backlink purposes as service for clients.

They are for a back link Network so that is why I was concerned with IP diversity...if backlinks are all coming from the same IP it will have limited benefit. When the links come from a variety of IP's it gives you better SEO authority, at least that is what my understanding is. If that is not the case please feel free to please advise me!

It isn't a network for resale, it is for my personal use of websites I control.

      Thanks for the info.
