Word doc to PDF File for Ebook

if you are not using Adobe, you can use this free tool: Convert Word to PDF / DOC to PDF and PDF to Word online for free.

Install Open Office (free) on your computer. Open the Word doc with Open Office Writer. Convert to PDF.

Open office is my go-to choice for ebooks. If you need something more
advanced, look into Nitro pdf.

I tried pdf99, good tool but does not show your links in the output pdf file.

You can also try PrimoPDF.

Once installed, open the MS-Word file, then click File>Print.
Select PrimoPDF from the list of available "printers" and hit OK.
PrimoPDF will then launch. Click Create PDF and it will create a PDF version of the Word doc.

Open office is very easy to turn your report or ebook into a PDF.Yes and you certainly can save as a PDF in Word 2007 but Open Office is easy to use so download it for free and try it.

Upload the file, open it , click on the print button, the pdf will come up and than press ctrl+s or simply the save button displayed on that screen.

"Save as pdf" if you're on Office 2007 or 2010.
There are also lots of free tools for word to pdf conversion.

pdfonline .com is a good one that i like to use. It's free too, and very easy.

Here's a detailed instruction on how to do it:
1.Open your document in a word processor such as Microsoft Word or Apple Pages.

2. Remove any layout or complex formatting. Stick with simple formatting options such as headings, bold, italics, underlining, bullet points and images without complex text-wrapping options. Complex formatting may not be preserved after conversion, as ebook formats are optimized for text -- think of a novel, not a magazine. Documents that are highly formatted should be formatted as an Adobe PDF rather than an ebook.

3. Export your document directly to the ePub ebook format if your word processor supports it. Apple's Pages supports ePub export starting with Pages '09. Microsoft Office does not natively support ePub export at time of publication.

4. Export your document to HTML format if your word processor does not support ePub export. In Microsoft Word, open the "Save As..." sub-menu under the "File" menu; select the "Web Page or Rich-text Format" option from this menu.

5. Select the "Web Page (.htm)" option from the drop-down menu in the Save As dialog box. Note the location you save the HTML document.

6. Download and install Calibre, cross-platform software for converting HTML documents to ePub ebook format. Alternatives to Calibre include software such as 2EPUB and online conversion services such as Book Glutton

7. Open Calibre and click the "Add Books" button on the main toolbar. Select the document that you converted to HTML.

8. Select your book from the list and click the "Convert" button. Select "EPUB" from the "Output format" drop-down menu and enter title and author information.

If you use Word just click "Save as --> PDF"

You can use Open Office. It's open source so you can use it for free.

You just have to upload it to docs.google.com and export it as a pdf file.

OpenOffice is by far the easiest and quickest way to convert a document to pdf, its free to download and is just one click conversion.

there are two ways to this:

First - from the document file, click Save As - Under the File name, you will see Save as type - click on it and choose PDF - then click on save.
go back to your document folder and search for the name you used in saving it. it will have saved additional copy in .pdf format.

Second - if you are using MS word 2010 upward - click on file menu and look down to select 'Save and Send' - click on Create pdf/xps document- on your right hand side - click on Create pdf/xps. it will bring a dialog box for you to name the file. then click on Publish.
go back to your document folder and search for the name you used in saving it. it will have saved additional copy in .pdf format.

with this you will see that you dont need to bother yourself about any software and you dont need to go anywhere online to do it. it simple just from your computer even without internet connection.

I use open office it works great. Just open your document in open office then go to file and click on "export as pdf". If I can help further let me know.

Does anybody ever look at the original posting date before replying? Sure hope the OP got his answer by now lol... I guess the upside is that someone else might have the same question, so seeing the answers - assuming they're not outdated - can help. Though you'd hope if they have the question, they might ask it themselves lol

just search doc to pdf on google, the first couple results will all do the work like magic

I just had to read this to first confirm that the question was real and then to verify that there were that many people responding. Well, it does sound like we've got a good handle on PDFs, we should compile this into an e-book about how to convert to PDF but sell it as a Word doc - then everyone who got it would be wondering why the hell didn't we give it to them as a PDF?! Until one person steps up, gets to the last page and takes the e-book and converts it to a PDF, to practice what he just learned. That person is a winner.

An online converter or Open/LibreOffice are the best. Beware of Word: There, your links won't be clickable!

I have tried Naunces pdf reader and converter and it works great there is also Calibre which I fine is a great and fast converter.

If you already have Microsoft Office Word, then it's as simple as opening the Word file then save it as PDF. You can also do that with a free alternative like OpenOffice.
