Outlook Express Problems

I need help. Everyone knows Outlook Express is unstable but I used it for a few things anyway. It finally crashed. I was able to save the data. Does anyone know an email client that will allow me to import this data and access it? I had some important emails and attachments saved in it.
The second part of this question has to do with finding a good user friendly email client to use. Anyone found one?

You want to find your ".pst" files.

    Navigate here:

    C:\users\$USERNAME\outlook.pst

    ALSO CHECK HERE:

    C:\users\$USERNAME\appdata\local\microsoft\outlook \outlook.pst

Snag those files, those are the files you'll want to import into your new mail application.

Mozilla Thunderbird is probably the best free alternative.

Importing the .pst is a pain, but it can be done. There are free apps that can do it. (It's been a few years, do a google search on "importing .pst into thunderbird")

Microsoft and Thunderbird don't play together well lol.

EDIT: You can also try windows mail. Check here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/w...r-windows-mail

    PS: Support Microsoft, they rock.

As I recall, the .pst files mentioned by Sarevok are used by the full Outlook, rather than Outlook express. Outlook Express keeps its mailbase in .dbx files, with one .dbx used per folder, and another one (maybe folders.dbx, but I can't remember the name for sure offhand) that stores the structure of your folders. Most Outlook Express problems stem from problems in these .dbx files, though, obviously, that depends on exactly what problem you're having with OE!

If you're happy to move away from Outlook Express rather than trying to fix it (probably a good idea!), Thunderbird should be able to import emails from your .dbx files. However, since Outlook Express is having problems, it may be that one or more of them is damaged - if that's the case, I'm not sure how well Thunderbird would cope with the import. Only thing to do is try, I guess.

If the worst comes to the worst, there are various utilities around that claim to be able to extract emails from .dbx files. Most are not free, although there may be trial versions. Long ago I had reasonable success with something called (I think!) dbxtract, but that may not be free any longer - it was a LONG time ago - and I recall it took quite a long time to process large folders.

    Hope that helps a bit!

Dear golfswng, you can use MS Outlook program. According to me it is one of the best and user friendly email clients in these days. But as you were using Outlook Express and it supports .dbx file, so you can't import your .dbx files directly to MS Outlook. You need to convert them into PST format. Check some third-party email converter software applications. I suggest you to check SysInfoTools Email Converter software to convert your .dbx files into PST format. This software converts multiple types of email files into other file formats, such as: DBX, PST, MSG and EML files to DBX, EML, PST, RTF, MSG and HTML file format. Download its free demo version from SysInfoTools' website. Visit sysinfotools.com
    Regards.

    Hi,

MS Outlook is friendly and expedient email client; you can use it and can replace with Outlook Express with ease.
As you are using Outlook Express which supports .dbx extension files, so you have to change .dbx to .pst to import your database into Outlook email client.

You should search 3rd party tool with SysTools DBX Converter in Google.

I am suggesting this software to carryout error free DBX to PST conversion, which supports distinct file conversion like .dbx to .pst, .dbx to .rtf, .dbx to .eml, .dbx to .msg.

It offers free copy of software, visit and download free trial edition- dbxconverter.com

    Thanks
