Has anyone tried Dirt Cheap Autoresponder?

Just stumbled upon dirt cheap autoresponder. I'm looking to possibly change my autoresponder situation soon, so I was wondering if any of you have tried Dirt Cheap Autoresponder and if so, how has it worked for you? It is a self hosted autoresponder. I know that there is a risk with self-hosted autoresponders, but mainly only if you have a ton of subs.

Thanks for any help you can give!

Thanks for the tip. Does he talk a lot about autoresponders? I don't need help building a list. I just want to know the most affordable autoresponder that is pretty simple to set up and doesn't give me too many problems. I don't want to pay $20 per month. I don't like services I have to pay monthly for. I understand the benefits that come with that, but I prefer one time payment things that i can use forever.

Hi Lisha, this recent post and some of the links inside it may also help/interest you.

I'm not technically competent enough, myself, to run a self-hosted autoresponder ... but, in general, there are reasons why so many professional marketers choose to pay monthly subscription-fees to companies like Aweber/GetResponse, and so on. And they tend to be pretty good, well-considered reasons, too. "Just saying"!

After checking out listwire, that sounds great (obviously free always sounds great). I was looking in their terms of service and it doesn't say anything about the type of content sent in the email autoresponders. I was using mailchimp before, but my account was suspended for sending emails with "make money" themes, even though I consider my theme to be more educational. Technically, even college is a way to learn how to "make money". You need to learn a skill in order to make money in any way.

mainly, I don't want to set everything up and get my account suspended again...

Please excuse the observation (with absolutely no impoliteness intended, I hasten to add) that this actually becomes less and less obvious as one gains experience - to put it mildly.

Something like Dirt Cheap Autoresponder may be very suitable for you, then? I haven't used it but know people who have, and have never heard anything bad about it.

Don't ever send stuff that prompts "spam reports". Set your subscribers' expectations well and fulfil them. Remind them frequently why they're receiving the email (i.e. that they opted in), and how easy it is to unsubscribe, if they change their minds?

Yeah now that I think of it, I haven't heard anything bad about them either.

But after reading this thread, I don't think I want to go with listwire...

I really don't mind paying for an autoresponder, but I'd prefer a one time cost over a monthly fee, and I'm not afraid of technical stuff trying to set stuff up on my own. My problem with self hosted autoresponders is the possibility of getting my ISP blacklisted. So I'm not sure how to avoid that.
