Affiliate marketing is the most common and one of the most profitable ways. Put up product reviews and articles based on the kinds of things people are looking for within your niche. Since your blog has begun to get traffic, you should also start building a list of targeted buyers, so that you can promote to them over and over again. Also, a number of people who come to your site via search will sign up to your list without you doing much of anything. This acts as a second stream of income.

    Good luck,
    Joey

I basically just use my blog to generate subs to my list and go from there. I find it easier to offer genuine value with an option for my visitors to subscribe and then market to my list.

The reason for this is because if you market directly from your blog you basically have one chance to convert your leads before they leave your site.

With your list on the other hand you can market to them over and over again.

tim, you need to research and read. You are like me when i first started, I used to ask questions on the main forum too. It`s about patience and reading. From your blog, you need to start using adsense and then start affiliate marketing. You could do this with banners or etc.

There are several ways for you to monetize your blog. You can try contextual ads like adsense, chitika, etc. Or you can do paid reviews on your blog, there are communities out there that allow you to join and include your blog as publishers so you can bid on advertisers offer for you to write a review about them or their product. But if you want to scale it a bit, then affiliate marketing will be the best way to do it.

I'd look into low-ticket product creation. After you start building a list of buyers, then you can promote affiliate offers or other products you created. I like to use Hellobar to split-test different offers/headlines across my site.

My suggestion: continue to build great content to your site, it makes sense to consider monetizing your blog when you have at least 300-500 viewers daily.

I started making money off my blog at the two-week mark, selling my own product. That was back when I had about five visitors a day. You don't need a lot of visitors to start making money. Just one who really wants your product.

Of the suggestions given above, I would say:

Forget about adsense. Adsense generates only pennies and if you have too much of it Google may penalize you. Not worth the risk if you're just starting out.

Affiliate product reviews are a good idea, but won't be as lucrative as if you create and sell your own product. Also, if you have too many reviews on your blog, it may come off as you just trying to promote anything and everything to make a buck. If you do go this route, make sure your reviews are honest and that you pan a few products as well as the ones you hype.

Deliver good content. No matter what else you do, this is vital. Without good content, no one will stay long or visit more than once. With it, you get people back again and again.

Build a list. Even if you do this without any clear goal in mind, build a list. Once you have it, you can always figure out what to do with it later. In the meantime, every time you have a new or particularly good blog post, you can let your list know about it. Many of them will click to come read the post, which drives up your visitor rate, which helps in all kinds of ways.

Get a list going and send offers to your list in the form of high value content updates with upsells. It's all about subtlety. Don't make it obvious you're selling. Don't come off as pushy.

Unless you're really strapped for cash, don't even try profiting off your blog immediately would be my advice.

Too often I come across newbie blogs that are being hammered with adsense and affiliate links on every second blog post. People won't stick around and read a blog like that. You won't develop a reader base.

Focus on providing value on your blog and getting people to come back and subscribe.

There are many ways to make money from your blog but only if you’ll get enough traffic. This is very complicated because of the fierce competition existent online.

Selling ads depends on getting a lot of traffic, otherwise nobody will care about having ads at your blog.

You may sell a few products if you’ll manage to drive enough traffic to your blog, but this is hard and takes time.

Blogging is not an easy way to make money. It takes a lot of time to start working. Besides that, you have to keep updating your blog with new posts and try to write something different each time. This is not a simple matter.

Use your blog to just get subscribers.
You need to give great information.
Money can be made later when you have a list and they trust you.

I agree, I recommend to concentrate on content creation and traffic before you worry about what specific way to make money. Too many blogs never make it off the ground simply because they did not have enough traffic and the owners gave up.

You can use affiliate marketing, your own products, or google adsense. All 3 are popular. Just make sure your blog readers love your content. Otherwise they wont click on anything cause they wont stay around long enough to click on links on your blog.

Writing paid post is perhaps the most straight forward ways to earn some revenue from blogging. The way pay post works hasn’t changed much; after reaching mutual agreement with advertisers. Again you can earn by your own blog by creating one by yourself. Better you should check out the following link here -

The tools you are using everyday to keep your blog running such as plugins, hosting etc all have affiliate programs. You can introduce these products in your blog post by referencing them to something related to the topic you're writing about. You can also place their affiliate links on each of your blog post at the bottom so that after your readers finish reading, they can check it out since you've already built the excitement and trust with your content.

You can also offer advertising on your blog sidebar such as a $10 text link for the week or however much you decide to charge depending on how much readers and how popular your blog is you could charge more. Don't forget to create a product on your expertise that you are teaching on your blog, your readers are already warmed up to you and your content. You can do this through a webinar or ebook.

And, a BIG one... You can also hold contest using scripts like "ContestBurner" and include a cash prize or a 1 month advertising spot on your blog. People will engage and share your contest for a chance to win something and be mentioned on your blog, just make sure it's a good offer that everyone wants. The goal is that it brings in traffic and awareness to your blog, bringing you more branding and sales through your affiliate products. Hence the reason guest posting works well, it drives traffic and with blogging you need a lot of traffic to make sales.

Blogging is HARD, regardless of how easy some make it look - but once you are consistent in posting and keeping your readers engaged, your audience you create will stick with you for a long time. Don't chase the BIG numbers just yet, it's better to have 100 loyal readers that will share and purchase than 10,000 who just browse.

My advice to you is DON'T make money off of your blog in the beginning. The reason why is that your visitors don't have a clue who you are just yet. Here is what I would suggest:

    1. Build your blog traffic by getting creating value content driven articles and post to quality web 2.0 sites.

    2. Create youtube videos sharing information with others that can help them and make sure you put your link into the description box. That way if they like what you're sharing they will want more of it and click your link.

    3. Join some groups on facebook that are in your niche and join into the discussion there. While you're there offer something that can help them get what it is that they want and the same thing will happen. They look you up in your profile and go to your site.

Now these are just a couple of free methods for starters. When you are a starter, your budget is or may be an issue, but if it's not go for the paid. After you get the traffic there and you've verified this through your analytics, then and only then should you start trying to monetize it.

    Hope this helps.

One of the most important things in any niche is to build a list of subscribers and then build a relationship with that list.
Just building a list is not enough. You have to build a relationship by providing them with good content through a series of follow up emails.

    Hi Tim,
Actually there are lots of ways to monetize your blog.
I think you can have paid product review on your blog, build a list of your buyers, do some adsense, and lastly go for affiliate marketing.

Try different methods and don't rule out Adsense.

    I use the following:

    Affiliate offers
    List building
Adsense (on select websites where it pays)

Interestingly, I started a blog on a topic I know and love about a year ago. I abandoned it because I couldn't wrap my head around how to monetize it. However, this year I discovered that Adsense clicks are high (I never used Adsense before so I was never interested in looking into it as an option).

This blog is in a niche I know very well and can write top notch authoritative content so traffic will arrive (it already is) and Adsense clicks are valuable.

I will build a list and look seriously for some affiliate offers, but I suspect it can and will be primarily an Adsense site. It's in a niche with huge traffic levels so the potential is real.

At the end of the day, get traffic and try different monetization strategies. Will you cannibalize your offers? Yes. By this I mean that if someone clicks an Adsense ad, you will lose a potential subscriber or affiliate sale. But, it can also be revenue you otherwise wouldn't have. The way I see it is if someone is interested in subscribing or a product you're promoting they won't click an Adsense ad.

One other suggestion, depending on your niche, explore local referral opportunities and private referral/commission opportunities with companies that don't have a publicized affiliate program. You may find the perfect partner that has no affiliate competition for monetizing your blog.

I personally do not use adsense for the sole reason that it funnels readers out of your site.

I only make money via ebook sales and the other services I sell on my site.

But adsense can make you slow and steady money if you want to go that route.

In all honesty, it's better to have a gameplan before you develop your site, rather than waiting till it's built and flinging your arms around looking for a way to monetize.

That's how big businesses are built, anyway.

You can make money but it would not be with Adsense as I would imagine the clicks would not be worth much. I would develop your own product and build a list.
