Cloaking Affiliate Links

Hi all

What plugins do you guys think are the best for cloaking affiliate links on a wordpress site?

I am happy to pay for a plugin, but there seems to be a lot of choice and I'm not too sure which one to choose

Thanks

    Hi,
I am currently using a free Wordpress plugin called "Affiliate Link Cloaking". If you type in Affiliate Link Cloaking in the "search plugins" area, it will be the first one that comes up. I think there is also a plugin called "Affiliate Link Cloaker". I haven't tried that one yet. Affiliate Link Cloaking is also really easy to use. I hope this helps you.

If you are looking for a free, self hosted solution for link cloaking that has a decent level of tracking, and great control over your links, which you can load on your own domain, check out Yourls at YOURLS: Your Own URL Shortener I use it and love it!

If you are looking for a non self hosted solution, I use bit.ly , which is common to many users of Twitter who want short links that aren't eye sores... They have decent tracking stats as well. Easy to use...

Keep in mind, however, that often people will be less inclined to click on a cloaked link as they don't know where it will go. Another cloaking option would be to register a domain, and have it forwarded to your affiliate link so it doesn't look so questionable.

Hope that helps - happy cloaking!

      Hi,

I am using Link Supercharger. It cost 15.97 and I found it the best solution for me. You can cloak (some of the affiliate links, for example Clcickbank, you are not allowed to cloak,) or not cloak your links. You also get information on how many clicks your links, it is easy to split test your links, plus a variety of other options.

It was very simple to set up so it is suitable for anyone, including newbies. I have looked for other alternatives but this one suited me the most.

      Hope this helps.

Be careful with Bitly as they have a habit of killing links. When they
do, they throw up a warning to people click on your links that they
      are potentially harmful.

I do also recommend hosting link tracking on your own domain
because that brands you rather than some link cloaking service,
generally gives you more control over year links, and if the link
contains your domain name that's recognized by your subscribers,
it probably instills a little more confidence.

First you need to decide why you're cloaking links.

If it is just to have a "pretty" looking link then you can use anything. There are a zillion options.

If you want to avoid having Google follow the link and recognize it is yet another affiliate link, then you will need a better solution.
