Hi guyz,

Can you tell me any tips to write a good article myself who doesnt know much english..

Actually I took this decision as I do not have much money!

So, i decided to spend sometime and write myself some articles..

Iam not writing for any article directories BUT for Squidoo, wordpress etc, (in short for web 2.0)

say for Squidoo:

a) How to write an Introudction that makes my readers interesting to read further... (which is very imp section)

b) How to write each Module each description?

c) Does writing normal english is enuf? or article should be high-quality?

d) and I dont eevn have any idea on the niche Iam gonna write.. so, do you think I can still dare writing and get success?

So, What to consider in my mind and write articles myself..?

I will be really glad if you provide me some good tips/suggestions?

All I can say is practice practice practice. With English not being your first language it may be difficult, but not impossible.

You should write like you are having a conversation with someone. No need to sound like a Pulitzer Prize winning author or a Harvard Alumni, but rather a REAL and normal person just talking.

If you do a few of these and re-read them, as well as review them next to some articles you know are really good, it should help you bridge the gap. You can also ask people to review your writing and give their critiques on it. You can PM if you'd like and I'll review some stuff for you

I do some writing for myself and sometimes some paid ghostwriting, so I know it sounds easy but when you sit down to write your mind runs wild. So just take it easy and one step at a time. You'll do fine.

Since you are interested in writing articles I would definitely sign up at EzineArticles. They send out helpful emails and templates that guide you through the process of writing successful articles.
I also agree with everything LWYSIWYG said. Besides that practice, practice, practice.

      Good advice, LWYSIWYG...

I'll add this. If you really want to write for, say, Squidoo, spend a lot of time reading on Squidoo. But not aimless scanning.

Start with lenses on a topic you know and like. This may or may not be the topic you end up writing on. Does not matter.

What you want to observe is your reaction to the lens, and the writing on it. If you find something that you really like, spend a little time trying to figure out why it appeals to you. If you find lenses that turn you off, or that bore you, try to figure out what they did that caused your reaction.

Now, when you practice, try to do the things that you liked and avoid the things you did not like.

For example, if someone made you smile by telling a story, practice telling stories. If someone wrote something in a way that bored you, practice writing similar things in a more interesting way.

Here's a practice exercise (the results are for your personal use - you are NOT going to publish these):

Pick a piece of writing, like an article, that seems okay but doesn't quite get the job done. Now, rewrite it in a way you think is better. You're not looking for content to publish here, you are looking to improve your technique. Now, find a writer's group that you feel comfortable in. Tell them that you are trying to improve your skill in writing in English as a second language. Post the original snippet, your reasons for wanting to change it, and your new version; ask for feedback. If you get any static about copyright, plagiarism, etc., reassure them that the exercise won't be published.

Repeated practice and feedback from people who want to help you will help you make progress faster than winging it on your own.

I can you tell you in few points that how I always try to look like a winner through my writing.

        (a) I read news-articles of my native language. This helps me to understand how to create paragraphs, and how to talk with true power... If you are not good with your native language, then how can you become a good writer of foreign language?

        (b) I buy and read books of my niche so that I can show my authority and present my own novel ideas.

        (c) I read English poetry and quotations. This helps me to glean those powerful words & sentences that fight for attention and influence the mind of the readers.

        (d) I mostly read the articles of cricinfo, stevepavlina, and askmen. Because, the authors of these websites look quite professional to me.

        (e) And, I write...

This may sound corny and cliché but look for your perfect article within yourself. Use your mind (filled with knowledge and experience) to search within your heart.

You could start off with a cliffhanger to keep them reading. For example, "I used to be lousy at blackjack, but then I learned a few insider secret's from a gentleman I met at the blackjack table...read on to learn what he taught me...
Also, the "How To" topics always seem to keep the reader engaged because they are reading your article to learn "How To" do what you are teaching.

    b) How to write each Module each description?
I would just list 3-5 ideas and/or solutions to the topic of your article. And then conclude your article with what you've just taught. For example, "Now that I've taught you basic strategy, an intro to card counting, and the best place to sit at the blackjack table you've got nothing holding you back from transforming yourself into a winner at blackjack no matter what casino you walk into."

    c) Does writing normal english is enuf? or article should be high-quality?
I would try to write as high-quality articles possible to get the most views and capture the most interest.

    d) and I dont eevn have any idea on the niche Iam gonna write.. so, do you think I can still dare writing and get success?
I think at this point you should pick something that interests you or that you are passionate about so you don't lose interest and give up.

So, What to consider in my mind and write articles myself..?
Once again, consider articles on topics that interest you.

I will be really glad if you provide me some good tips/suggestions?
Hope this helps and Best of Luck!

I really hope you don't take this the wrong way but if the writing in your opening post is indicative of the quality of your article writing then you should really consider hiring someone. The importance of the quality of writing can not be stressed enough.

Having said that, however, one thing I like to do, when writing for myself, is come up with something unique for the article. It should be a unique angle or interesting information which isn't readily available. Maybe it should attempt to solve a certain problem in a unique way. The most unique material is written from your own personal experience and I try to do that as much as possible.

      Best of luck!

Keep it personal, but spruce it up authority-wise by researching and including references (endnotes, links, etc.) to real studies on the subject so that you can add some real substance to it.

Alternatively, if you can write concrete information based on a personal experience, that works as well.

The point is add something valuable that most other sites don't do. Research doesn't take long, but it will get readers' attention. You can come up with supporting and opposing findings and then discuss them. If you can add a personal experience to the topic, by all means do so.

Fully exhaust the topic. Many articles skim the topic. You can distinguish yourself with excellent research, interesting facts and a personal touch.

Relying and referencing research works great if English isn't your native language because you can obtain great information ... just source it properly.

If your English is not impeccable and you are serious about marketing online, I suggest you use freelance writers to come up with a content for you. Content is king, and you must make sure people get value from your content. If you have the budget, then why not spend it on something worthwhile like outsourcing article writing?

  • To give you a good idea of what conversational English sounds like, I suggest you watch a lot of American or British TV shows and movies. That's where you'll learn the nuances of the language.

But if you're writing to do online marketing, I strongly recommend you outsource writing, at least until you feel comfortable enough to do your own writing.

You might consider hiring someone to proofread and edit the first few articles you write. This will give you some insight into what you need to change and how close you are to producing readable articles.

It's important that your articles have some personality and not just facts and figures.

Also, a good story can add a lot to an otherwise mundane article.

When you're done, read the article out loud and see how it flows. This may be harder for a non-native English speaker, though.

Practice makes perfect when writing articles. At first it may seem like a challenge to come up with an idea and construct content around it. Eventually it becomes easy.

C.) It's good to use normal English. Some readers will not enjoy you using jargon and terms they don't understand. Sure, big words make you sound intelligent, learn where to place them though and when to use them in your articles.

D.) I wouldn't recommend writing without having a niche. If you want to become an "expert", you are going to need a topic to write about .Basing your articles on everyday, random happenings and things isn't going to get you much traffic since people are very specific with their searches nowadays.

If you're going to write for a squidoo lens, then look at what the others write their lens on Squidoo... Look at the top lens of Squidoo and follow their structure and writing style.

    ...Success Leaves Clue

Other than that, practice... practice... practice!

The more you write, the better you get... It's only natural!

Engage your readers. Know who they are and speak to them not at them.
Use humor throughout your articles, people who are laughing like your article more than those that are frowning.

Tell a story and make it so that even thought they got real value from your article they need to click a link to complete the story etc...

A lot of valuable advice have been given so far and I concur on most of it. The thing I would says to you is to follow your heart. Many of us on here have challenges as well, but maybe not with writing in our native language, but we have challenges. Ours could be getting or making sales of our products, lead generation , etc but we have them. I don't think we would stop pursuing what we desire and I don't think you should stop. Will it be tough, yes but it's still possible and in the end that story will potentially be more leverage for you in the future. I mean you could even write an ebook to help those who were just like you.

You should also research the topic of your article thoroughly before you start writing. You also need to learn how to structure your article. In other words, the article should be divided into three sections: introduction, body, and conclusion. Just keep practicing!

Read a lot and practice harder. When writing an article, always remember to primarily identify your idea and theme so as not to stay out of the track. When in the future, you find yourself overloaded with information, try to sort out first the vital points from the unnecessary ones, after which, outline your ideas and present them chronologically (may it be inductively or deductively) for it to become readable; use transitional words in order to achieve the latter. There's no perfect formula to become a good writer; as long as you have the willingness to learn, the eagerness to transcend words into emotions, and most importantly the passion to write with the use of your imagination, you're definitely off to become a brilliant one. Writing is like learning a new trick; it's a gradual process, and it requires adequate time for you to master it.

In the introduction part, the way to keep readers reading is to ask a question or write a very catchy sentence. Try only using one sentence in a paragraph. This works well.

And yeah, if you don't have an idea for writing articles then go to Yahoo Answer and look for what people are asking about your topic. Then do a quick re-search, get an idea, and finally publish the post

Yes, this is an old post - but I do have an opinion on it so I'll chalk it in while I'm here.

I honestly don't mind if English is not perfect for anyone who it is not their first language IF the content they are providing is something of interest to me and they can convey what it is they are attempting to get across.

A good article is not necessarily defined as grammatically correct.

A good article for the most part needs to be clear enough for the receiver to understand what the writer is trying to say.
