The BEST source for US TARGETED TRAFFIC

Fellow Warriors,
I have an Amazon review site in the watches niche. I am using Amazon US and preferrably want more US traffic to my site.

I get 90% of my traffic from Google today and roughly 50% are from US.

So, my question is what is the best source or sources for US targeted traffic. Paid or free.

What has worked best for you?

Looking forward to hearing your views on the matter.

Unless you use a pay per click company like Google or Yahoo, there aren't much places online where you can have US traffic only.

If you made a video on YouTube, everyone all over the world will see it. I am sure that US viewers will see it too.

Same things with an article. Everyone around the world will see it when it gets LIVE online.

Thanks for your answers this far

I have found some watch forums online and using them. Works pretty well.

Also tried Youtube. Have a couple of videos with 40.000+ views but not really getting anyone to the main site from these.

I guess what I am looking for is alternatives to google. Ad networks, solo ads, ppc networks and such to provide me with US traffic.

      • PPC. Google, Yahoo etc. I think POF allows you to select geographic location as well.

I think Yahoo's pay per click program moved to Microsoft years ago. But if they have something else going on let me know.

But you are right, Google and Microsoft offer geographic targeting. Other advertising platforms with demographic information can also help target ads, such as Facebook or dating sites.

I hope both you and me get some good tips here on how to get targeted US traffic to our sites.

YouTube has always been a reliable source of traffic for me.

When I was first starting out (and didn't know how to upload videos) I would pay people in my niche with popular videos, to stick my link in there for me. I drove hundreds of targeted visitors a day this way.

This is probably more competitive nowadays, but I image it would still work. You'll probably have to message more people to get some yes's.

You just need to pull up your sleeves and get your hands a little "dirty" ; )

Other than that, I've seen good results with Plenty of Fish ads. It works really well for dating offers, but some other niches do well too.

Consider placing ads in US newspapers. They are still effective, and most now have an online presence. A resource for placing ads, of which I have previously used extensively, has been nationwideadvertising.com.

Facebook, contact forums/websites and see if they geo target there ads, obviously google etc... Offline you could do magazine and newspapers if you want to.

My videos are number 1 for several keywords on Youtube. I have "Visit www.mywebsite.com for more info" in the end of the videos and it is also at the top and bottom of my description.

G Analytics shows that I only get a tiny amount of visits from YouTube monthly. Maybe I am missing a peace in the puzzle to get the visitors to my site?

Just came up with an idea here... what if I offer the viewer some freebies, an e-book or something if they visit my site. By signing up for my newsletter they get the book for free.

...or even better they can pay for it with a tweet, like or share. Like this one here Pay with a Tweet - A social payment system

Any other suggestions on how to get more traffic from Youtube are welcome.

I have had a lot of success with eBay classified ads. Cost is $9.95 per ad for 30 days. eBay gets huge traffic and you can grab a share of it. An ad giving away a free report to get email addresses seems to work better than a direct sales pitch in the ad but that is probably dependent on what you are selling. I have never lost money on an eBay classified ad. Even the poorest results have paid for the ad and made a profit and the better ads have returned many times their cost. The traffic I have received is about 90% US based. It's totally independent of Google with their continual updates which disrupt websites so much. I was researching this topic not too long ago, and found several solo ad providers in the Warrior Forum classified ad section that have lists, highly targeted to the US.

Take a look over there! or just do a search....

My advice would be to use the ppc search engines ( google, yahoo, bing) or do some solo list advertising to guys or gals who run ezines in the u.s.. They should be able to do geo targeting based on location.

Here are some ideas off the top of my head:

    - YouTube Videos
    - Craigslist (Send traffic to a landing page)
    - Forums
    - Articles
    - Offline (flyers, newspapers, signs, etc.)
    - PPC (Bing is my fav)

Also tried Youtube. Have a couple of videos with 40.000+ views but not really getting anyone to the main site from these.
Perhaps you didn't have a strong enough "call to action" in the description or the video? 40k+ views is great ... but if you don't convert the traffic, that's not "YouTube's" fault obviously. I would try to revisit those and boost conversions with those kinds of views.

    Best,
    Shane

      Thanks Shane for the tips!

About the Youtube videos; What kind of "call to action" words/phrases works for you? What kind of incentives to visit my site is working?

Anyone with some experience of this is welcome to help out.

      Hi MarketingAce,

I am on first page of Google with many keywords and will continue working with the rankings. The "problem" is that 90% of the traffic comes from Google organic searches. I am happy for the traffic, but I do not want all eggs in one basket.

I know how to rank videos on Youtube and Google videos, but have not been successful in converting those views to traffic to my site. This is something I need to focus more on and learn about.

So basically I am looking for other steady streams of traffic to my site. Ebay, Craigslist, classified ads, ppc, ad networks, facebook, twitter, paid traffic, solo ads etc...

Like majority of the posts mentioned here, I too agree with the fact that if you want an extremely location targeted promotion you have to go with Google adwords. However, there are some off page SEO strategies that you can perform to dominate the local search. Local business listings, local web directory submissions etc are some examples.

In addition to that you should be performing offline marketing such as ads in local TV shoes, radio programs and send out brochures, flyers etc

FACEBOOK ADVERTISING is THE MOST TARGETED traffic you are going to get for that niche. Think about it, you can target people only based in the U.S., target by your age and sex demographic, target only people who are also fans of Rolex, The Wall Street Journal, or any other Fanpage that you think relates to your market segment. Put up several campaigns and see which are converting best, once you find that source, you've got yourself a Winner

Depends on what you are promoting on amazon, if you are promoting high end products then you can go with the better traffic sources.

Take a look at sites like sitescout - they have billions of impressions each day, you can target by location, age, operating system - you dont get much more targeting than that!

You can also retarget anyone who has visited your website, great for getting your brand out there

by the way, I see you are only getting 50% US traffic and have a US affiliate account, Have you ever looked into installing a php script that redirects non us traffic to other websites / offers?

    Noone likes wasted traffic

    Good luck

Checked out both sitescout and your own link. Both look good. Will test them.

Yes, 50% is US traffic and rest is from UK, Australia and India. I don't see the rest as wasted traffic, since I also have adsense on the site. Not as good as amazon but...

I will look into the redirecting though and see if I can come up with anything good. I have a UK affiliate account as well...

A simple suggestion: submit many articles to ezinearticles.com.

I don’t mind from which country my visitors are, my products can be used by everyone in the world, but I have a lot of US visitors because I submit a daily article to EZA for years now.

The best type of link to get involves one person telling another person, either explicitly or implicitly, they should click the link and visit the site at the other end.

One way to do this is simply to exchange links with another site which targets the same audience as your site. You can manage this process manually or use one of the many software packages that will mange the process for you. A search on Google.com for "reciprocal link manager software" yields a good start.

The easiest way to grow a link is through using articles other people post on their websites which link back to your website. The reason articles work so well for "growing" links involves the numerous ways in which articles get distributed online, each of which can create dozens, hundreds, even thousands of different links back to your website by publishing a single article.
