Membership Program delivered in e-mail format - How does it work?

Hey guys,

I've got an excellent idea for a membership "site" that I am in the planning stages of right now.

Taking all types of membership sites into consideration, I've found that e-mail delivery is going to be the best way to deliver my content, as it fits into the type of payment plans I'm going to offer the best.

Here's my question, though:

How will I ensure that people will not continue to receive my content IF they decide to cancel?

See, this will all be setup through PayPal, and content will be delivered via Aweber.

So lets say I mail out once a month, on the 20th of every month.

A person who signs up on the 10th would get the last months content, but then cancels on the 19th.

How would I make this easy to find the customer in my Aweber account and put a "stop" on their e-mail so they wouldn't receive any more content?

I hope that makes some sense. I know a lot of people here do membership sites that have content delivered via e-mail, so if that's you, if you could share how you do that or have it all organized, you would rock!

Thanks

I don't think there's an automated way yet. I could be wrong but I haven't seen a solution for this. As far as I know you'd have to manually log into your aWeber account, search for their email address and check the STOP box to the left of the email.

I know it sucks but I think that's the only way to do it.

The easiest way to do this would be to have someone code you up a script that would get posted to via the paypal IPN (instant payment notification) and then when they cancel a subscription it would send a call back to your script and your script could then plug into the aweber API and remove the user. It really wouldnt be hard at all for someone who knows what they are doing.

There is a membership site script that you can get real cheap that will do this. It takes care of all the payments and removals and everything for you. You can get it from Big Mike's site incansoft.com it's called Ez Content Manager. I haven't used it myself but I know a guy that is successfully using it to deliver daily niche specific articles to his clients via email and it works like a charm. I am one of his clients and I get my content delivered to my inbox daily on autopilot.

Hmm....That sounds interesting. I've got a couple of Big Mike's products, and they all are killer (RSSBot, DirectoryBot and SocialBot).

Another thing I was thinking of would be that a required field is that they put in their Paypal e-mail address, as well as the full name they intend to use. This would at least make searching for them in Aweber a little easier, in the event that I have to manually remove them from it.

Wouldn't something like that work well you think?

I think DL Guard might do something like this, too...

Not sure about it integrating with Aweber in this way, though.

    Sam?
