PLR articles are still worth your time... but only after spinning them and/or re-writing them by hand.

I start by spinning them with my software, then re-write them a little bit, + add new content (at least 3 new sentences) to them.

If you're looking to use PLR content for SEO purposes, then sure, it may not be as effective if you use the content as is, or if you only make minor changes. But, think about it, would you try to rank in the search engines using syndicated content?

Look beyond SEO
Just because PLR content may not be as effective for SEO purposes, doesn't mean that PLR content isn't still useful.

There's a lot of other ways that PLR content can be used. But, for some reason, a lot of people only seem fixated on using PLR content for SEO purposes. So, then they can't rank in Search Engines for the PLR content (which they've barely made any changes to), they assume that it's because PLR content is not very useful.

But, obviously the PLR content is not going to be very useful for SEO if the version of the content you're using, is very close to that of the original version (i.e. you only made minor updates). Think about it, would you try to rank in the search engines using syndicated content? I doubt it.

The reason you used syndicated content was most likely because you thought your readers would benefit from that content, not because you want to rank in the search engines.

If you really want to use PLR content as part of your SEO strategy, then make extensive changes to the content, or rewrite it completely.

A time Saver and A Starting Point
I think the real value in using PLR content is not as content for SEO purposes, but rather because it's a good starting point. With PLR content, you already have some of the work done for you. So, using PLR content allows you to save time.

You don't have to spend as much time on research or structuring ideas... you already have that done for you.

Even if you end up rewriting the PLR content (you don't have to... it's really up to you), you're still saving time because the research is done for you.

Not for Everybody
PLR content is an alternative content solution to writing your own content from scratch or hiring a ghost writer.

PLR content is a content solution with it's own set of Pros and Cons. PLR content allows you to get high quality (I'm assuming you're buying high quality PLR content) content quickly and at a fraction of the cost.

But, the downside is that it the content is not original to you. However, since PLR content allows you to add to, edit and make changes, you can create you're own unique version of the content.

So, if you can't handle the fact that multiple people have the same content as you, then you would simply not use PLR content and either write your own content from scratch, or hire a ghost writer. PLR content is not for everyone.

The whole reason why PLR content is so cheap, is because it's sold to multiple people. In other words, the cost of the content is shared. So, if you aren't prepared to make your own version of the PLR content, then either spend more time writing your own content or spend more money hiring a ghost writer.

So, is PLR content still effective?
Yes, it just depends on how you use the PLR content.

I use PLR for my stuff, but like someone already mentioned only after I have rewritten them. Then I am able to get the information and know it will be more unique then what I do is use those mainly for backlinks to my sites.

Depending on SEO for traffic is a losing proposition… and, if you don't depend on SEO, then all the "worries" about duplicate content and using PLR go away.

Just pick good PLR that is informative and adds value to your visitor.

Use it on websites that you drive traffic to via methods other than SEO (you shouldn't be depending on SEO anyway). Use it in auto responder series. Use it in reports. You don't even have to rewrite it.

For goodness sake, whatever you do don't spin it!

PLR articles could be a good solution for blog posts or to listbuilding even with Adsense could generate some money but sometime you need to make some change on the content to make it original.

Yes and no in between. If you are using PLR articles then make sure you are going to re-write them before you upload them for personal use. But of course, if you are planning to sell PLR articles then that is another way. But surely Unique content is the way to go and for unique content it is surely going make an impact as Big G , B or Y likes new and interesting content.
