"You Must Add Funds" error..

Hi all, lately, I have been getting this error from Paypal alot..I tried sending my partner USD 200 and had USD 3000 in my Paypal account. I still get the error message saying "you must add funds to your Paypal account". This has happened several times.

I have searched high and low, even tried calling them, but the error seems to keep coming back..Is there anyone on WF who knows of this and a solution? I will be really grateful, thanks..

    The only way to deal with paypal is via telephone, support tickets and the like just lead you round in circles.

    On the phone, you can get them to check your entire account with you on the phone, so much simpler, ..........however getting through can be a pain!

    Sometimes the funds received cannot be used to send payments depending on your country , you can only withdraw them to your bank ,In that case you will have to select a funding source which is your credit card / debit card / bank account to send across funds to someone.

    When ever I have any issue with PayPal I phone them up immediately and usually have an instant resolution.

    I don't understand why you would post this thread when most likely you could have had the issue resolved by now by calling them on the phone and speaking directly to them.

    PayPal are the only ones who can help you with this, in case you are unaware you can log in and scroll to the bottom of the site click on " contact us" then select "call us" they will then issue you a 6 digit one time pin along with a contact number.

      Thanks for the heads up..I contacted them a few times already..and the error keeps coming up..lol..wonder if it has got to do with region?

    They were having trouble, according to their automated message. My issue is now resolved. I don't know if everything is or just some aspects for others though.

    It happened to me last friday..but not with sending payment, I was suppose to receive payment, but the client couldn't send it.. he was receiveing the same error you reported..

    PayPal said to him that the problem is because my paypal is on a different curency..

    They told him he must fund his account before trying to send the payment..

    PayPal is becoming such a pain in the a.. more and more every day

      Beat me to it, I was just going to post this as a possible cause. Your balance has to be in the same currency as the one you're sending.

        PayPal always have these issues, I had the same issue about 8months ago trying to send money to someone and it kept saying I need to add funds. I called PayPal and they said nothing was wrong with my account or the website.

        Well it took about 2days before I was able to send money again.

      He already says that does not do much help..lol..anyways, i think it is some security issue with payments..I am surprised only few warriors have experienced this bug, as it is becoming quite common now..

    Just give them a call when appropriate, and I'm sure they'll help you ASAP. I'm treated like a god for some weird reason; maybe because I've been using them since 6-7 years.

    I am having the EXACT same issue the last few days.

    It's weird though. I can send payments to some people but for others it comes up saying I need to add funds yet there is plenty of money in my account.

    I wrote them and awaiting a response.

      If you want to send 150 and you only have $100, for example, you obviously don't have enough, right?

      WRONG! If you want to send 150 yen, it is approximately $1.62, and you have plenty!

    I've had this problem when I was trying to purchase something from someone. Apparently, this problem is only limited to certain accounts you're trying to send the money to it seems.

      Nah, not true.

      I have had the error some days and then been able to send money to those same recipients on other days. So it's not just to do with the recipients account.

    Happening to me lately, my workaround is by sending smaller amount multiple times.

    If you can't send $300 try $250, $200, $100...

    If the PayPal account holder is in India, they cannot use their PayPal balance to send money to someone. Money can be sent only through a linked credit card or from funds uploaded from a bank account.
