Any free autoresponders with double opt-in to test?

Hi,

I've just completed my first squeeze page and am REALLY looking for autoresponders that are free. Any one know of any that are really good and that manage a double opt-in?

I'm not looking to use Aweber or GetResponse yet. I'd just like to use one that I can test with for the next 3-6 months.

I've tried FreeAutobot, among others, but what I don't like about it is they advertise THEMSELVES in all my e-mails. I'm looking for a clean solution.

I'd greatly appreciate any direction with this.

Thanks

There used to be a number of free autoresponders about, but I would imagine they have pretty much been blacklisted now due to spam problems.

I would be surprised if anything you are asking for exists anymore, but you may get lucky

Kim, don't waste your time with free autoresponders by the time you wade through the crap you will want to spend your money to get a decent one.
If you are serious about building your business get Aweber or GetResponse.

GetResponse used to have a free edition that you could start with. Don't know if it's still available - check their site. Also, if it is offered be sure to read the terms so you know what limitations might apply.

Other than that - if you can't afford a good AR, just wait till later to start building a list. You don't have to do everything at once but could get your squeeze page/site to profit and then get a good autoresponder.

When you use free services, there usually will be advertising. There has to be some expectation of profit for any business or business person to give away services.

    Pretty coool.

Thanks for your replies. Its awesome having great support

Mr Ray, I just checked out the site for Infinite Responder. I'll have to set aside some time soon to watch the walk through video and get started setting it up Thanks for the heads up.

Thanks for taking a little time to add your input Kim, Auriana and Kay. Appreciate it.
I had Aweber at one point but realized I was going to end up having monthly payments I couldn't pay for out of commissions since I'm yet to develop traffic generation skills. I figure I can start building a list without the autoresponder expense (except for webhosting) for now while I learn to send traffic to the squeeze page. I'm a 21 year old "broke college student" so I guess you understand where I'm coming from money wise :-P

    Thanks again!

Hosting the script on your own server can have downsides........3rd party services are best.

There are free GOOD ones out there that you can host yourself, my autoresponder is hosted on my server, didn't cost a penny and works really nice. Which CMS are you using?

Another point is that once your list starts growing, if I'm not wrong, you can't directly transfer your optins from your script to say, Aweber. They all will have to sign up again. So it's best to go with something like Aweber or Getresponse from the very beginning.

Hmmm... good point. I don't even know how to set these autoresponders up on the server anyway! :-P

One drawback to hosting your own script is that spammers with hacking skills hunt them down so they can spam your list. I learned this lesson the hard way. When I first started I had built my list up to about 1,500 subscribers when it got hacked. I lost about half of them.

Security may be much better now, but so are the hackers, probably. Just something to think about. I only use 3rd party autoresponders now. The thought of losing half my list again is too scary.

I started using Infinite Responder a few weeks back as like the OP I didn't want to start paying fees straight away. I'm having issues now though as sporadically the unsubscribe link doesn't work in people's emails and I'm getting complaints. I also hadn't appreciated the hacking risk which is quite scary!

I think it might be time to make the leap to Aweber...
