Do you want to try to build a business online or just make money online ?

There is a distinct difference.

Many of the people here at Warrior Forum are building businesses online. But you would probably be surprised that some in this forum are just concentrating on making money online.

One is not necessarily better than the other.

I would consider people trying to make money online as those who really concentrate on things such as making Adsense sites alone, having sites centered around CPA offers, participating in GPT Sites and Survey sites and the likes of that nature.

Whereas people who build businesses online are ones that are branding themselves or their product and building up a loyal following. They seem to use email marketing (among other ways) to build relationships and sell products. They are really keen on making profit but are also keen in delivering content and products up and beyond what their customers expect. I am sure their are other variables to characterize what building a business online is about (like JVs amd snail mail newsletters). But these come to mind when Iam thinking about it off the top off my head.

There are pros and cons to each.

Cons of Just Making Money Online : Making money building a site centered around say for instance Adsense. Yes, I think their is great potential to make good money but with the fluctuation with Google algos income can be limiting at times. Adsense sites are dependent on organic traffic.

Pros of Just Making Money Online : The accountability issues. You have much less responsibility in dealing with people like customers. Your sites are one time hits and you move on to the next organic batch that comes the next day!

Pros of Building a Business Online : The sky is the limit as far as the potential income. Building a Huge List with loyal customers who trust you and are with you for many years to come can get you to levels of $10,000 up to $50,000 per month or more.

Cons of Building a Business Online : The inability to put things on auto pilot. Dealing with customers on a daily basis. I know it would be hard to totally relax on my 2 week vacation to the Beach if I had built a thriving business on the web. But that is part of the sacrifice. Plus, I am sure many warriors treat building a business online to totally support their household. That is major pressure ! Whereas just making money online, people are less inclined to need to support their household with their IM endeavors ,IMO and experience.

The reason I bring all this up is that I have thought about this topic lately as it relates to my own IM career ,and I am now leaning towards just making money online. I have 17 blogs and about all of them have now turned into just 'make money online ' blogs with just one blog (fitness blog) which I have tried to really build a business around . Incidentally, I am thinking about turning it into a blog concentrating on just making money.

That said you can still help others by pursuing the making money online avenue by using good, original content around adsense or CPA blogs . And helping people succeed in a GPT site .

I am wondering what many Warriors think of all this and whether they prefer in building online businesses or just implementing ways to make money online with limited interaction with people who visit their Sites. (And essentially have things more on 'auto pilot' ?

Anyway, sorry to be so long winded I just thought this would an interesting topic to plant seeds of thought !

I just think you need to learn as you go, and there are many ways you can get your feet wet without spending a lot of money. You can start a free blog on blogger.com or wordpress.com, offer up your writing services, see what you can offer on fiverr.com, and all sorts of things to warm up first.

Thanks for sharing this content. I personally prefer to start a online business as it is more long term. No doubt that I will need to commit my time, effort and money, but I still feel that it is worth it once I have a stable business that gives me long term income.

I think building 17 montesied blogs constitutes as building a business. Surveys and like are more making money online things!

This could be up for debate.

Of course, I do not want to be stabbing myself in the back but I think a lot of my websites that are solely centered around Adsense are pretty much predicated on CTR and CPC. If they want to read my content then so be it.

But to tell you the truth with these sites I am more interested in them clicking the adds. I do love writing really good, helpful content in any environment. But ironically it hurts my income if they love my content and do not click on anything !

I don't know but does that sound like building an online business and personally interacting with your audience and customers ??

I have been harping on about this for a while now. Money is made as a result of building a business operating and running a business.

People just trying to make money are less likely to succeed and often don't have a long term vision or exit plan.

I think it also depends on your situation at the moment. Those in dire straits would not have the money or time to invest in developing a business model and hence, have to start off with just making money online.

With the right perspective however, you can wean yourself off that and invest into actually setting up a business.

I personally wanted to begin an online business where I can make money online. Not the other way around. Making a serious business is miles apart from simply making money online. The former is more stable and long-term, while the latter is just short-term and just passing.

this is the difference, this is why some make money and others don't. Those who treat this like a real business will make more money that the people who just want to make money online as a hobby or click software 5 times and expect to make money.

This is a business for me this is what I do, and this is my only source of income, and has been my only source of income for 6 years.

This is a business and needs to be treated like one if you want to succeed, daily consistent effort is a must.

Um, isn't making lots of websites and monetizing them through adsense or CPA a business already because that's what I thought about it.
That's my plan, earn some from doing jobs and create sites on the way monetize the sites.

By the way, when you write or post your articles on your blog on blogger, do you submit them afterwards to article directories right away?

Depends on current situation. Some people have extra cash to spend , others have bills to be paid. But building a stable business is the hardest thing and the best model to have an asset.
