People are trying to give me money - Help me Help Them!

Hi, everyone!

I've created a very interesting product on Clickbank, and I'm delighted to say that sales are really starting to take off... I'm even starting to translate the product into other languages!

As my product gets more exposure I'm getting more and more emails from people in foreign countries that can not use clickbank or paypal to process payments.

Does anyone have any suggestions on a good way to get payments from folks in "high-risk" places like Nigeria?

Thanks!

They are called "high risk" for a reason. CB offers multiple payment options and it's up the BUYER to find a way to pay for his purchases.

A buyer should work through CB to find a payment option. You are thinking "I could get those sales" but what you might get is scammed.

Dear April: I don't want any trouble from you.
January was long, February was iffy, March was a freaking dumpster fire.
So sit down, be quiet, and don't touch anything.

Agree with Kay. Unless you want a high refund rate, you should let Clickbank do the risk filtering.

    Hi Folks,

    Thanks for the concern.

I was hoping that with a different payment processor I could just set up a sales page that did not offer a refund policy and send those specific people there.

If some of them scam me and get a refund anyway, I don't mind as long as it doesn't cost me anything and doesn't hurt my clickbank reputation.

    Would this plan work?

I hate telling folks they can't have my book because of where they live.

If they're willing to pay you, outside ClickBank, by Western Union (and if you're willing to go to your nearest Western Union branch to collect those payments), I think you might be safe that way - from the perspective of refunds, anyway.

Refunds through ClickBank do hurt your ClickBank reputation.

      Think about this.

You're saying you don't mind if people scam you as long as you still get the money and you have no other consequences. Nice...

Also slightly delusional. What payment processor in their right mind is going to continue processing transactions and issuing refunds without looking to you for reimbursement?

Tell them to buy prepaid visa voucher at their bank or forex. However, there is a reason why paypal and clickbank don't reach certain countries, scams.

      stick with clickbank

and for the other options have them use

moneygram western union and if your inclined absorb the extra fee's associated with using these services

otherwise.. just have them absorb it

Hate to tell you this but refund policies are a joke. Anyone can get their money back on almost any transaction if you want it bad enough.

Say you get a PayPal transaction, well someone will dispute it in Paypal, if they lose, they will charge back their card, if they lose the chargeback they will open arbitration which costs $200+ to even participate in, EVEN IF YOU WIN!

So even if you say no refunds, people will be getting their money back if you do a high volume of sales. Your refund policy will not protect you from fraud!

What about stolen credit cards? The money always ends up back on the card, period and you get penalized.

Scammers will not even bother to read your policy because it only keeps 'normal behaved citizens' in line, not those who commit fraud.

        Wow.

        This thread was an eye-opener.

Apparently there were lots of considerations I hadn't um, considered.

I'll just stick with clickbank doing their thing.

        Thanks everyone!

I just had someone contact me asking for an alternate method to buy a WSO because their country does not support PayPal.

Some quick research of prior posts in the Special Offers forum, plus an Internet search of their email address revealed:

1 - Lots of requests for freebies, review copies, etc,

          2 - Prior PayPal purchases!

My guess is their PayPal account was shut down for some reason. I decided not to provide an alternate payment method.

The title of this thread is "people are trying to give me money." No. They are trying to get your product.

It is better safe than sorry, I would not bother with high risk buyers in countries like that. As long as you are making money in other areas, focus more on that.

Forget em! It isn't worth it to your business. I know this is even worse but I don't even do business outside of the US! Yup! I only buy US traffic, allow US traffic and I block non US IPs from my sites. It has brought me trouble in the past and it really isn't as simple as just opening the floodgates, I risk my bank accounts, and business relationships if people don't like the quality traffic I drive. Just my 2Cents!

I know there is great international traffic and I do work with people in other countries but only on US traffic and US offers, period!

On other peoples projects I will get them whatever traffic they want but it isn't my specialty.

Look at it this way. Why would someone in a non-English-speaking, non-Western country want to pay what probably amounts to several days' pay for your information product?

They don't. They may want to do other things, none of which will help your business, and some of which could do a lot of harm.

If you want to expand your market and you're looking for a challenge, figure out how to gain a foothold in countries with a high standard of living (i.e. disposable income) and a highly educated population - the Netherlands, Norway, Finland, etc. Get your product translated (I see you're already doing that, excellent!). Many people in such countries speak English, but they will love seeing products in their native language.

Don't be duped by the fantasy of getting more money. I know there are a couple Warriors from Nigeria, but odds are you're gonna be scammed. This is part of what you are paying ClickBank and PayPal for.

Otherwise, maybe have them get some US dollars, mail the money to you, and once received you email them the product. Don't know what range of countries we are talking about or any customs rules, but this is called high risk for a reason.

If ClickBank won't touch them, and PayPal won't deal with them, why should you?
