A highly recommended blog theme would be DIY Thesis Theme.

This theme is very customizable and from inside out and you can really make your blog look the way you always wanted it to look

The theme is the #1 way to make your blog attractive. But, better yet - the readability is what will make the difference. The easier it is for people to read, the more your content will get notice. I've seen where some of the best content was written in large chunk paragraphs on a poor design that would of done well, but it just didn't make people read all the way through.

Is there any course or lessons somewhere that teach you how to blog properly as to how to write a nice blog post?

You can get the best ideas to write a nice blog post from Google search. No need to take any kind of course for that. Also, blogging is similar to mathematics. The more you will practice, the more expertise you will achieve. There is no course can make you expert in blogging if you are not active.

Check out the U-design Theme on Theme Forest. Gorgeous, easy to work with, super customizable for any layout/color scheme you can possibly imagine. Some great tutorials for it on YouTube. You can insert html via Black Studio TinyMCE Widgeton all the countless widget areas on the homepage and customize the templates for posts and pages, making SEO a breeze.

I love it, and so do my clients.

You can also try putting up some slide shows in your blog or a short video about your articles.

Slide shows make most visitors hooked on your site.

Even I get hooked whenever I see a slideshow in a site I'm looking at ha ha.

If you want a clean nice looking blog then invest in thesis or genesis themes.

It's a steep learning curve, so you may need to spend the same again to get someone who knows how to use these themes to actually implement everything that you want to have.

Well, there's two issues you seem to be talking about .... nicer looking blog and better posts. Nicer looking blog is easy to take care of. There's tons of great Wordpress themes and a lot of them are free. Check out woothemes.com for their free ones. Some of them are commercial, but they have a good number of free ones.

Making better posts is more about content and your ability to write interesting content. That's not as easy to take care of as blog appearance.

You're probably in starting stages so you should focus on having a nice elegant theme that gives viewers easy readability of your site... That way when your content starts to add up it won't look cluttered and viewers will be able to navigate quite easily.

    1. First you are going to need a good looking and simple blog layout, there are lots of themes you can choose from out there, a simple Google will turn out many results. Be careful not to over monetize your blog at the early stage that could turn people off.

    2. Allow guest bloggers, be picky about the kind of post people submit to you. You should be looking out for something really new, unique, interesting and an eye opener.

    3. Blog about good information that you know people can't find easily.

    4. Get traffic from SEO, adword, social networking and various others. You might not be able to achieve paid traffic in one day but keep it locked up.

    5. As you grow big, hire expert to manage your site, content and more.

    6. Overall, you don't want any grammatical error, false or misleading information on your blog.

    7. Build your list if you can, it's necessary to bring back one time clients to your site again especially when you cook some real good story/title/content.

    8. Hang out where like minded people flock together and rub minds, you will learn a lot. Above all, don't forget to implement, test and be innovative.

If I understand your question, you want advice on how to improve the appearance of your blog layout and graphics in order to build traffic. The previous posts have answered that very well. I would like to suggest that you concentrate less on how your blog looks and more on what it contains, such a fresh, usable content that people will come back for more of. In my experience, people will forgive bad appearances in order to get good content, but they will not forgive bad content, no matter how good your blog looks.

OK, thanks and good luck, Ed.
