Have video, but need primer on Video Marketing: Should I Use it for SEO? Drive Traffic to Affiliate?

So I enjoy creative projects and when experimenting with some new software my cousin bought I created a unique looking short video related to my niche. I'm actually pretty good with the software so I could easily create more videos, but I am not sure what to do with them?

I already have a (relatively new) site that promotes an affiliate marketing product in that niche. I've never done any video marketing / video based SEO or anything.

What should I do with the videos?

Is there a SEO benefit by putting it on video sites like YouTube? Should I just try to drive traffic from the video directly to my affiliate link? Should I just put the video on my site to improve my site's content? What does a viable video marketing strategy look like?

Originally I was going to just throw it up everywhere for the back-link. But researching YouTube, it seems that any link out is a noFollow.

Then I thought try to make a direct affiliate link in the video itself, and add a splash screen on the beginning and end promoting my site. But I hear different things on if affiliate marketing is against the TOS for sites like YouTube. I can make the video have a decent pitch for the product, rather than my site, but I'd still have to know how to drive visitors to the video.

Is there somewhere that has a good primer about Video Marketing for Affiliates or for SEO. Also a list of all the video sites and what their TOS are regarding Affiliate links and No Follow Links?

Thanks!

      Thanks for the responses.

I am looking through the WSO options, I will consider them in more detail. However, like I do after I pose any question, I tried my best to answer it myself--often times just posing the question helps me clarify what I am looking for.

I came across these sites that may interest anyone who has a similar question as me:

      www.reelseo.com/seo-for-video/ - for SEO
And this EXTENSIVE list from them as well
      www.reelseo.com/list-video-sharing-websites/

It's giving me a good start. Also, it appears according to this blog:
      www.labnol.org/internet/youtube-links-to-external-sites/26209/

You should be able to embed external links in YouTube videos as long as it is a site you are affiliated with in Google Webmaster Tools. I am testing that out now to see what the limitations are. I expect I can link to my own affiliate redirect on my own site.

I still feel in the dark about driving traffic, but once I have a live video I can tinker with it a bit.

I'll report back what I find out. If this seems viable then I might get a WSO and put together a full strategy.

The main SEO benefit is videos posted on Youtube can rank in both Google and Youtube's search engine, which is now the second most popular search engine on the Net. And many people, myself included, find it easier to rank a YT video on Google than any other media.

That is correct, external links in YT are nofollow. However, internal YT are "dofollow" and can and do pass link juice and PR and this can be manipulated.

It isn't recommended to link directly to an affiliate offer. Instead, link to a page on your site that contains a link to the offer.

Is there somewhere that has a good primer about Video Marketing for Affiliates or for SEO.
    Thanks!
I'm a little biased, but check out the Warrior High Voltage Video forum.

There's also a number of threads already in the public Warrior forums. Use the forum search function and search for "youtube" and "video marketing".
