Help needed with article marketing?

I'm pretty new to article marketing and to IM in general too, im trying to promote my squeeze pages, i have one for weight loss and one for IM, will i be able to get traffic to them by submitting PLR articles i bought from Fiverr to article directories? If not please tell me why, and also please tell me what and how to i actually link back to my squeeze page. Do i just write: 'if you want to read more, visit this site.'then put a link? Or what do i write?
One more thing-- im not good at writing and i'm think of going to hire people to write for me, can anyone please tell me the traffic you can get with an average article, i just want to compare if its worth the money hiring a writer. Thanks a lot!

You're the one who should be telling us how to do all that stuff coz you're teaching IM Lol... Don't teach what you don't know, that is why you'll find it hard to write articles simply because you don't know much about the subject.

Just stick to what you know and you'll be fine.

I certainly wouldn't use PLR articles unless you rewrite them substantially. A SEO guy whose WSO I bought the other day said that spun articles (the way marketers usually spin them) don't get indexed by Google because they can recognize that that it is spun content which Google does not like.

I have heard that article marketing does not work now as well as it used to but here is a good article that you might want to read.

Does Article Marketing Still Work in 2013

Many marketers are saying that videos are the way to drive traffic to your squeeze page this year. You might want to do a search on this forum for that to see what others are saying.

You could get traffic to your squeeze page by going to forums relevant to your niche and answer members questions and generally be seen as being helpful. Put a link to your squeeze page in your signature with a good call to action such as Jack has suggested in the reply above.

Have you thought about opening a business account on Pinterest to drive traffic to your squeeze page? I am seeing an increase in my traffic since I have been pinning.

    Good luck.

Grace, if you check out other 'article marketing' threads on this forum, you'll find that I'm probably one of the biggest advocates of article marketing here. With that as a backdrop, I say your plan is flawed and pretty much doomed from the outset.

First off, 'weight loss' is not a niche. It's a multi-billion dollar per year market with hundreds of niches under the umbrella. 'IM' is not a niche. It's a multi-million dollar per year market with dozens of niches within it. To tackle huge markets like that with PLR articles on directories is like hunting elephants with a BB gun. The elephant isn't even going to notice.

Next, directories are a lousy source of direct traffic. A few years ago, you could draw decent numbers from a few directories, but then the twin ideas of 'bum marketing' and PLR articles got together and flooded the directories with crap articles designed to draw search traffic and quickly direct it to affiliate offers. Google's Panda and Penguin updates closed the loophole and made shoveling crap onto directories much less effective and hence, undesirable.

The idea of submitting hundreds or thousands of articles for backlinks, especially in highly populated markets like weight loss and IM, is dead.

The idea behind writing articles (and making videos, for that matter) is to put your message in front of human eyeballs - people actively interested in your topic - in such a way that they want to hear more, see more from you. They learn to trust you as an information source, including information on what products to buy.

How to link? Think about "extending the experience" for the reader. For example, suppose you do an article on "the five best foods for losing water weight." A good bio link might be "Click here to see the five worst foods for losing water weight" and one of the bullets on your squeeze page is "The five foods you should not eat if you want to lose water weight."

    > The article provides a positive experience.
    > The bio link offers to extend the experience and creates curiosity.
    > The squeeze page provides the mechanism to extend the experience.
    > Your incentive extends the experience and sets readers up to want your follow-up emails.

How much traffic can you expect? Can't say. Way too many variables.

What I can say is that the better your article engages and motivates the reader, and the more of those readers you can reach, the better your traffic will be.

      Hi Grace,

All I can do in this thread is add my voice to John's.

With apologies, I completely agree: this plan is indeed doomed from the outset. Not what you wanted to hear, Grace, I appreciate. Sorry.

There's no point at all, for all the reason explained in this post, in trying to use article directories as a source of traffic. That approach was only ever based on a misunderstanding, I'm afraid. That isn't what they're there for, and it isn't a purpose they can profitably fulfil for a marketer.

Article marketing is all about taking your articles to where the targeted traffic you want to attract is already looking. You can achieve that only by having articles that impress publishers (whether of ezines, magazines, blogs, websites, or whatever - because those are the people who have the traffic you need) sufficiently for them to choose to share your content with their own readers, visitors and subscribers. And that simply isn't going to be possible at all, in the way you suggest.

There's certainly no significant SEO benefit, either, and it wouldn't make much difference even if there were: that isn't really helpful to article marketing.

If it helps/interests you, here's a one-post overview of "how article marketing works", from which you'll see that it's barely related to SEO at all (indeed, explaining that precise point, to answer a question about it, was the reason for this post's being made): http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post5035794

Building links is the main way I bring traffic to my blogs and articles. I post links to them all over the web. Every time I post online I want someone to go to my site which is why when I post on forums I leave signatures with links to my sites/ SEO clients sites.

I've occasionally wondered how you feel about it being so widely referenced, Christophe, always fervently hoping that you don't mind at all, and am very relieved to deduce from your comment above that you probably don't mind too much, anyway ... and thank you for that!

You can rewrite the articles if you like. It might be better to do your own research and create tips articles. These are actually easy to write.

Create a list of tips. Usually 3 to 4 is good, and then you write 2 to 3 sentences under each one. After that, just write a beginning and conclusion, and you have an article. I've found that this is the easiest articles to write, and they don't take long once you write them.

I created some free software for this. It's what I use to write my articles because it's easy. Try it and see if it will help. I include a ton of tips on the writing, so you have all the instructions on how to write these types of articles. One other thing that is good about writing these types of articles is that you don't have to go into too much depth. You can save that information for your site. Give them a taste of what you are offering.

Finally, focus on getting your articles on the top 50 most popular article directories. It's the 80/20 rule. This is where you'll get the most traffic. Just do a search in Google. I won't post it here because the list changes. After that, consider looking for article directories on your niche and posting there too.

    Good luck,

With sincere apologies for what may unavoidably come across as a confrontational tone, this is simply dreadful advice, and in these post-Penguin days is far more likely to damage your business than to help it.

For all the reasons explained in this post, no article marketer should ever want to get potential customer traffic coming to their site from an article directory. That isn't who those articles are there for, at all.

This idea is based on a fundamental misunderstanding of how article directories work and what they can and can't do for your business. I'm not suggesting that you can't ever get any traffic that way - simply that it's an extremely ill-advised, misguided and wasteful way to try to use article directories, the reality being that we all lose most of that traffic, which we could equally easily (in fact more easily!) have arriving directly at our own website instead. As explained here: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post5068872 (the links inside that post explain how to do that).

The list of the "50 top article directories" (to be avoided at all cost, partly because many of them are not, in fact, article directories at all, and that's very important indeed!), and why it should be ignored, is discussed here, and in many other threads: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post7550188

There's already a great deal of confusion, in this thread, between "article marketing" and "article directory marketing".

Yes article marketing is still effective..I've done very well with cpa offers using article marketing..You can find people on fiverr to create original 500 word articles don't use PLR.You can get tons of traffic to your articles just depends on the keyword you pick and topic..If you would like to see examples of how much traffic articles get check out ezinearticles.com when you click on a article there scroll down to the bottom of the page it will show you how many times the article was viewed...

11 articles on ezinearticles bring a website of mine around 15 visitors each month. In my experience I wouldn't say article marketing is very good for bringing in traffic.

What brings in the most traffic for me besides search engines are youtube videos and squidoo lenses. If you make really good videos and squidoo lenses that target low competition keywords, you can bring in a good amount of traffic.

    1) The article will have to read well and not be spun
    2) Only submit your article to directories that manually review submissions for quality control

As it comes to article marketing you have to take care of the following things:

    - Good Content Series (When I say series its 10 or more preferably 100 articles in a niche)
    - Its not that difficult to rewrite articles and give it a personal touch
    - It goes hand in hand with your own product marketing or affiliate marketing. I would recommend to create your own products and write articles related to all the search keywords in that arena.
    - Chose your resource box very carefully as this will give you maximum visibility
    - Keyword density is something you should be careful off as most authority article directories might reject keyword stuffing and repetition .
    - One key tip is to submit the primary article on Ezine and rewrite the article and publish it to other directories.
    - Do not forget to bookmark your articles.

    Hope this helps.

Sorry, but this is terrible advice: the "primary article" should always be published and indexed on your own site first, before ever being submitted to any article directory at all. This is absolutely fundamental to any model of article marketing.

The reasons are explained in some detail in this little thread: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...marketing.html

For those wanting more, you can find a whole succession of experienced, professional article marketers explaining all their shared reasons for never submitting the primary article to Ezine Articles in this much longer thread: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...eza-first.html

Originally Posted by abhijitpani View Post

That's completely unnecessary and confers no additional benefits at all. There's absolutely no need to re-write it. Indeed, doing so would be potentially a mistake, as it would be a way of giving an article directory content previously unpublished - certainly not a wise course.

Ezine Articles happens to be the very last place I ever submit my articles, but that doesn't matter: the point to appreciate is that there's nothing to gain (and potentially something to lose) by submitting there first.

The widespread old urban myth that "you should submit to EZA first" was based purely on the mistaken belief that EZA won't accept content already published elsewhere. It's never been true and it isn't true now.

This thread will help you a lot, Abhijitpani, if you're willing to read it before trying to advise other people how to do article marketing: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post5068872

You haven't tried it, Itchydog. That isn't "article marketing". And it isn't what Ezine Articles is there for, either.

You can use PLR articles to inspire you to write about a subject, or as research if the PLR is up-to-date. You can take PLR articles and read them aloud and make them into podcasts quite easily. Many podcasts directories have high PR and this is a really underused way to build links.

You can even make PLR articles into videos with certain software. PLR articles should always be re-written because you want *your* audience to respond to *your* voice.

This is why these days it is about building relationships with people, establishing a rapport, and getting people to like and trust you. To be honest, I think even in bricks and mortar stores, the same principle applies.

Don't think of PLR as an end product. It's like a diamond in the rough, it needs you to add your particular polish to it to make it into something stunning that your audience will love.

    HTH

    Ruth
