Is Mobile Marketing Worthwhile?

I am wondering what you think of mobile marketing and if it really is worth pursuing or not?

Before I go rushing in spending lots of money I'd love to hear your comments and your advice....

What do you mean when you say mobile marketing?

Do you mean paying for mobile advertisements? Or Mobile websites?
I'd say absolutely go for mobile websites and instead of a long winded explanation just watch this - Video - The numbers are staggering! So yes, mobile is the way to go as far as sites. For advertising, I don't know, but I wouldn't go down that path just yet.

I know some people are having success with it, but to me it seems like we are already conditioned to avoid ads and it's 20 fold on mobile devices. But, if someone's already making money in the field, then there's money to be made there.

I'd say it totally depends on your business and your audience.

If you're focusing on selling mobile marketing services to other (offline) businesses, then put your primary focus on building a mobile site first.

But for almost everyone else (those building nearly any business OTHER than one offering mobile marketing services), I'd say focus on building your main WordPress website first. It's easy to make it mobile ready (readable) with a one-click install of a mobile plugin. (I use WP Touch -- I think.)

THEN, when you've gotten your main web-based website up, including a really good opt-in page with an irresistible freebie building your list, circle back around and get a bit fancier with the mobile site.

To evaluate what you need, first consider your business, your audience, and your top priorities. For most people here, it's making money as soon as possible. That means beginning to build a list as soon as possible, which means you need an irresistible offer and gorgeous opt-in page first.

You can get the offer and opt-in form up and be building your list before the rest of your website and business is even built out at all. (It really helps to know what you'll be selling and who your audience is first though. )

Again, unless you're offering mobile marketing services, focus on a more traditional WP website first, make it mobile with a plugin, and then circle back around to make a really nice mobile site once you've got 1) at least a basic website up and 2) are building your list.

        Hope that helps!

I would not rush to spend money no matter what I do. I would always learn and read about a certain method before investing actual dollars into something. Due diligence is very important, especially online.

So what kind of due diligence would you use when getting into mobile marketing?

I'm guessing the market first and then the specific offers to promote?

it's worth it if you do it right, from my experience just about everything works, but requires your own testing, since different things work in different markets.

there is a very specific way to do mobile marketing in a way that produces results, and it can be kind of tricky at first.

I would advice against it. It wasn't profitable for me after $$,$$$ invested. Maybe wait a few years or so.

From a personal point of view
I never clcik adverts on my phone while I do on the "normal" internet

I dont surf on my phone when I use I am using a particular app not interested in anything else
The only exception to this is if you are marketing an app and advertising it on app stores

That's a loaded question because there are so many variables.

Do you have a business already that mobile marketing is a logical add-on?

Would you like selling to local business owners?

Can you and/or would you be good at selling to local business owners?

Mobile is definitely profitable or else big corporations like Dunkin Donuts, Coke, McDonalds wouldn't be adding mobile to their marketing mix.

It's just a question of whether it could work for you - and that is only if you want to add it to your services and devote the time to it.

      I hope that's helpful.

I'd rather treat it as an addition to "usual" marketing rather than completely separate entity.

Mobile marketing is a great business model and easy to make money with for when you start talking mobile marketing and the growth statistics to local business they get very excited and feel like they need to start right away.

I use mobile marketing in many different ways for my local business clients. I sell mobile advertising campaigns,SMS,mobile websites, QR codes and I am sure I am leaving something out here.

I also use mobile advertising networks to build my email list . Mobile is great for list building because you can get cheap clicks.

You have a 96.8% chance that when you send someone a text message that they will not only open it but it will create action! Oppose to a email which you may have a 15% chance that they even open it.!

I hope that I help to explain some reasons why you should get into mobile marketing for it is the way of the future.

I think with the right system, mobile marketing has the potential to be quite worth while. For example, if you are selling a product and make it really easy for mobile visitors to give you money in exchange for that product.
