outsource alternative to fiverr

Hi,
I'm starting a project and I like fiverr and already used it because we can have work done without spending too much money, but I need a place where I can specify a programming work and get feedback from people who have the skills and ask for the price.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Definitely Odesk. You can always limit people by a fixed rate or number of hours per week.

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

First there is the warrior for hire section on this forum, see here: Warriors For Hire

    Then you have sites like:

    elance.com
    guru.com
    odesk.com
    getfreelancer.com

Just type in google "sites like odes" and it will come back with loads.

      Hi,

I guess it all depends on the size of your project and how long you want it to run.

Typically I would suggest to head over to Freelancing sites like oDesk / ELance etc if you need to have someone that you can tell what he/she must do in his field of expertise and you want transfer business knowledge to your freelancer for a long term period > 3 months.

If however you want a certain task to be done which is well defined and limited then check out Fiverr / Fourerr / MyCheapJobs where you can find talent that can accomplish tasks which they have defined for a certain budget. I.e. Create Logo / Create X backlinks / Create Video of 27.5 seconds

      Hope this helps

      Thomas

  • If you have small, repetitive jobs (micro jobs) then take a look at Microworkers as well.

  • Warrior for hire is always a good place to start. If you have an onlinejobs.ph account you can also post short term projects there

I know most people here are either extremely cheap or on a really tight budget, but if you're looking for a professional service to help you find a VA, check out Virtual Staff Finder. It's basically a "matchmaking" service for VA's in the Philippines. You pay a one-time fee for them to find the VA that meets all your skill requirements and then you pay the VA directly from there.

We've used them, like the service, and recommend them to others. Full disclosure, I'm friends with the owner...but the service is legit.

    Freelancer.com? Be careful with them:

I have had myself at least 3 very bad memories with them.

Each site has its strengths and weaknesses.

    - Odesk.com if you want to pay hourly. They have a feature where you can keep track of workers' progress such as keystrokes etc.

    - Freelancers.com for one time payment project

    - Elance.com you can find very big service providers

You can try to hire programmers from Asia countries like India, Philippines or China (if they can understand English) if you are on a tight budget. Try the following websites and forums. Remember to email them and read through their reviews before you hire the right person.

    http://forums.asp.net/59.aspx/1?Jobs - The Official Microsoft ASP.NET Forums
    sulit.com.ph/index.php/classifieds+directory/q/freelance+programmer (Philippines)
    litebreeze.com(India based)
    itpinoy.com (Philippines)
    onlinejobs.ph (Philippines)
    scriptlance.com
    getacoder.com
    guru.com
    odesk.com
    freelancer.com
    elance.com

You can use all those websites like Freelancer and Scriptlance and Elance.. You can also go to the forums like DigitalPoint to post your project. I will give you more info on how to use those websites to find the golden service providers, it's not that hard but still you'll have to spend some money to learn it the hard way if you don't find someone who can help you cut the learning curve. Learning from other peoples' mistakes was a big lesson for me.
