Is duplicated content big problem for google?

Hi,

I'm making one e-commerce website on wordpress with woocommerce plugin. All my products are in $, but I would like to display them for Europe in € . So I found way to do that with WPML plugin http://wpml.org/ . With this plugin I can add multiple languages and multiple currencies to my website.
So I can create new language for example www.mysite.com/eu and put currency € and then I add geolocation redirection plugin, so everyone who is from Europe gets automatically redirected to www.mysite.com/eu and sees prices in euros.

Only problem is I have to duplicate all my content for www.mysite.com/eu. WPML website says "WordPress has a way of telling search engines where content originates from. The rel="canonical" tag indicates the original URL of every piece of content. This way, if it appears in several URLs, search engines know where to list it on. Since now, WPML knows that duplicate content is indeed duplicate, it communicates this information. The rel="canonical" tag will point to the URL of the default language. This way, Google doesn't mistake you for trying to SPAM it and always knows where the original content is."

But I would like to make sure my duplicated content and geolocation redirection is not a problem for google and I will not get banned.

Google states openly and repeatedly on their WebMaster Central Blog that they do not penalize websites for duplicate content, and you certainly won't get "banned" anyway ... but this is the place to ask: Adsense / PPC / SEO Discussion Forum
