Bookmarking The Correct Way? Confussed!!!

I'd appreciate it very much if experienced warriors could give me some advice for the proper way of bookmarking these days. I run 10 niche websites and want to make sure I'm doing this correctly.

What I've been doing (and not sure if I'm causing any harm) is bookmarking each new post (on each site) with 150 social bookmarks over a span of 30 days each. Each bookmark post is spun with spin rewriter 3.0, so each bookmark is unique.

Should I continue what I'm doing or should I be commenting on similar blogs to mine and then social bookmarking those pages that have my comment on them. This way it would not be social bookmarking to my pages directly but more indirectly.

Any advice is much appreciated

If you're using software to do the bookmarks, just some advice on what i've seen and what has worked:
-make sure you are not posting a bunch of bookmarks from the same account and IP address.
-make sure your titles and content is VERY unique
    - make sure you mix up the anchor text and URL.

Throwing a bunch of bookmarks at the same things over and over can cause some harm. I would try to not do TOO many to the same website and url.

hope it helps. I still have success with bookmarks, but I'm very careful about it.
EDIT/DISCLAIMER: bookmarks are still effective for building backlinks and ranking. Just have to be more careful now than before. They don't work like they worked say, a year ago

Thanks Matt...sounds like good sound advice. I actually use social mokee service to do this. I checked social monkee against the criteria you listed and found that they use unique IP addresses like you mentioned....guess thats a good thing

Yup Google is getting wiser and wiser to the old SEO software game, so it's best to be careful and not get too aggressive or risky

Sounds like you're on the right track. I wish you success!
