$500 PER MONTH to invest. How would you use it?

You have a site, hosting, domain, aweber, all that, done.

You have some time everyday, not a lot and $500 per month to play around with. What would be the best use of that money online if goal is to make $2k+. What would be the methods of reaching that goal in about 6 months time?

Invest in high quality content for your website. Offer incredible value to your website visitors and get some SEO work done on it too.

      This...do this.

Since you said you already have a site, hosting, etc. (And I'm guessing a profitable niche and target market you're going after...have to have that to start) I'll just add:

You said you have a bit of time yourself. Use that time to create some high-quality, kick-ass content. Don't think content just means blog posts...it could be podcast episodes, creating videos, cool images you can share on the blog and Pinterest, etc.

Use the cash every month to add to the kick-ass content you're creating and to purchase all of the things you need "around" creating that content. (Podcast intro/outro, editing, video editing, graphic work for the intro on videos, etc.) Don't go cheap on production quality...especially for things you'll use over and over again.

      Best of luck.

    This is what you do:

    1) You find a market that has some sort of overlooked, underserved or unmet needs. EVERY market has them.

    2) Make sure that the market has people willing and able to pay you to have those needs met.

3)And make sure that market falls in line with something you can do for them and be able make a convincing case that you can do it.

4)Sell to them - attract targeted leads and monetize them.

Just follow that process. And everything you do to generate money will fall under one of the following: Sales, marketing and copywriting. So learn about the fundamentals of those 3.

    That's all.

invest it on PPC or CPM, that will surely increase your income. If your site contains huge visitors, you'll surely have income greater than $2k.

I don't agree. Beginning off by investing in traffic, whether it's PPC, PPV, solo ads or whatever is starting in the wrong way. Anyone can invest in traffic - it doesn't guarantee anything. The first and most important thing is to have something that the market wants. It's that simple.

PPC? For someone with only basic knowledge and no experience in conversion, I think the return on investment in 6 months is bankruptcy.

Personally, I would invest the money in my marketing education. It's cool to pay someone to do something for you but when it's gone, it's gone. If you invest in yourself, and learn some new skills about how to run a real business online, that is something that you can take with you for the rest of your online career. Later, if you choose to pay someone for traffic, solo ads, seo work or whatever, you can, but you will have a working knowledge of how it all is suppose to flow together. You can never go wrong when you invest in YOU.

Be especially wary of any SEO services. This is not a good way to spend money for a new venture. It takes time, and 6 months may not be long enough. Just make something of quality however long that takes. It generally takes me at least 2 years for something that is completely new niche.

Create good contents on a sub-niche website targeting long tail keywords. Gradually add other sub-niches to other websites.. Eventually, Create a naturally pyramid authority site.
These wil enable you to generate multiple incomes.

I would recommend you focusing on traffic generation.

As some have stated above to use your investment for writing articles on Fiverr, I wouldnt recommend it. You aren't going to get the best quality articles for $5. You pay for what you get).

You can use your spare time to write high quality content to add to your website. Make it unique by adding your own personality to it, to differentiate yourself from others in your niche.

You didn't mention what level of knowledge I had going into this exercise. So let's assume basic knowledge, the kind that could be gained by surfing this forum judiciously for a few days.

First off, Kaplan has a good outline. Follow it.

    Expanding on step 4...

To make money, you need both traffic and conversions.

Start with a basic setup - website, opt-in, autoresponder follow ups. Buy some traffic to get a baseline for conversions.

Start testing. Keep buying traffic, as well as exploring 'free' methods. I'm a bit biased, I admit, but I'd spend at least part of my available time actively working on content syndication and building a productive syndicate.

Keep cycling between concentrating on optimizing conversions and finding productive traffic sources. Unless you need the business income to keep the wolves at bay, reinvest it along with your $500/mo.

I have no idea about your interests, talents or work ethic, so I can't tell you whether this will reach your $2k goal in six months. The potential is there, the realization is up to you.

Another poster mentioned investing in your education. Excellent advice, but you have to exercise good judgment. Don't try to learn it all before you start - you'll freeze up (information overload) or you'll end up jumping from project to project (shiny object syndrome). The best bet is to educate yourself on what you need to know to take the next step.

Keep learning about your chosen market and the people that make it up. Keep finding additional ways to serve them. Repeat the baseline > conversion + traffic cycle with new products and services.

Some of the advice in this thread is bloody laughable.

Create a squeeze page with a very high quality free bribe.
Create OTO page with your own product (get it created for you - couple hundred bucks)
Drive PAID traffic to sq page to build list
Test conversions on both the sq page and OTO
    Test - tweak
Repeat process until your traffic costs are lower than your sales.

You've just cracked the money making code. Since you have money to invest month after month, you'll be able to test conversions without going broke. No doubt you'll lose a bit of cash in the beginning, but hey, THAT'S YOUR EDUCATION!

Either that, or listen to most of the useless comments left above by scared people who are still struggling to make money, or have taken many, many years to do so. Of course you'll have to learn a couple of things to get to where you need to be, but I think you already know there's always a learning process.

As a newbie, I can almost guarantee that the first month or two will have a lot of waste, in part due to picking the wrong keywords and in part due to finding ads that work. If you can pay ten cents per click, you can buy 5,000 clicks per month.

Of course, if you can optimize your campaign so that your revenue is over ten cents per click, you can buy as many as you can handle.

Extending that to any paid advertising, if you can optimize to make more than you spend, you can buy all the visitors you need. Some sources and some keywords may have practical limits, but if you keep trying and testing new sources and campaigns, the visitors available is effectively unlimited.

By that time, you won't be a newbie anymore...
