How to Easily Manage Multiple Twitter Accounts

*** Update - April 16, 2009 - Version 1.0.1 Released ***

Account Settings Fix. Some users reported problems getting their accounts tab to load for some versions of XP and Vista. This version fixes that issue.

I just finished a new widget called multiTwit. It lets you send tweets to multiple Twitter accounts at once.

I built this widget because I have a bunch of Twitter accounts I am responsible for: my personal account, my business account, and a few client accounts.

Sometimes, I need to send updates to them all, but I don't like having to log in and out of Twitter to do it. It takes a lot of time that I would rather do something else.

I looked around for a widget that would satisfy my needs. But, I couldn't find one. So, I decided to build my own. The result is multiTwit.

The widget is free and is available here:

multiTwit - Easily Tweet to Multiple Accounts

I have been using it a lot lately, and it has saved me a ton of time. I hope that it will save you some time as well!

Very cool, I've been using Twitter multi account manager & brand monitor | Splitweet and Welcome to HootSuite, the ultimate Twitter toolbox -... as well as Twhirl, but this looks nice. I'll check it out.

    gxd5,

    Thanks.

A separate question: Is there any way to have multiple Twitter accounts on the same email address?

Thanks for the feedback! I believe that the sites you list (other than Twhirl) are web based. This widget is a desktop app.

The reason I wanted to put it on the desktop was because I dont like entering my details into web based apps. Especially if they are going to store the info. And ESPECIALLY if they want ALL of my info. Look at what just happened with the Mikeyy virus...

That said, those tools are all aimed are all good tools, but I think they are aimed at being Twitter clients, while this is more of a quick utility you can leave running to just blast out Tweets

I've had someone else mention that. I'm not sure. I tested it on Vista, XP Pro, and Mac OSX with no problems.

Can you PM me what your operating system is? I will try to resolve it for you.

I'm having the same issues on Vista Home Premium, as is another friend I suggested the tool to. Also on Vista...

Edit: I fired up a couple virtual machines, and the error is across the board. Windows XP SP3, and Ubuntu 8.10, the Accounts button is going nowhere. If you need some one to test on these OS when you look over the problem, feel free to shoot me a pm...

Thanks for the offer for testing on different OS's!

I have done some research on this bug. I think it could be a permissions problem based on the user permissions that the app is installed under.

The problem is that I have not been able to reproduce it myself. It has worked on all the computers I've installed it on. But I have four computers at my office, and I have only tested on one of them.

So, I will head down there and install on the rest right now and see if I can duplicate the problem. Once I am able to replicate it, I will release a fix.

The app should notice the release on its own and ask you if you would like to update when you start it.

Thanks SO much for the information on the OS's everyone! It is incredibly valuable!

There is a new version of this application. It is version 1.0.1... it addresses some of the issues with the account tab not showing up on certain versions of Windows.

If you have problems with the automatic update, delete the original version and reinstall from the site. That will fix it.

If there are any issues, please let me know about them and I will get them fixed ASAP.

    Thanks again!

Thanks for the tool. I run several blogs all using the tweetme addon. Sometimes it will definitely make sense sending an announcement to all twitter followers.
