How are you running your IM business?

Hi Gents,
I was wondering how marketers run their business to see if most marketers are running similar to each other.

I use a laptop and tower....mainly the laptop (what do you use and why).

What do you consider to be the most important bit of equipment that you use and possibly can't do without? (apart from your computer)

What is the main software that you use and can't do without?

What is the handiest bit of software or equipment that you have bought?

What plan do you have in place for the eventuality of your computer crashing with your business on it?

I really appreciate your co-operation in this

    Hi Jenki

My Laptop is of course the core of my business.

Backup Plan - I am using Google Drive right now to back up everything I am doing, writing and creating. I do this once a week. Because I want to me more safely I am using also an external hard drive too.

Most important bit of equipment - My smartphone... Why??? - With it I can monitor my business from everywhere. I can answer important emails immediately and do changes to my sites if necessary.

Software - Optimize Press - free WordPress theme which can be transformed into sales pages, sales funnels, back ends squeeze pages and many many more. It is really powerful. WordPress is also a good friend of me Aweber is responsible for my list building.

I use my laptop 100% of the time..

To avoid getting cabin fever I try to work from the city library as much as possible and I also try to train MMA every day to be social as being and IM'er can isolate you from the world a little.

      Thanks for the input.
I know what you mean about being isolated.
Also at home the wife can leave me a list of jobs to do each day

Right now I do about 99% of my work on my desktop computer, notebook is only to check email and maybe read WF at night in bed.
However I´m thinking about spending a couple of hours at a coworking space not far from home so I go out for a while, being at home all the time gets boring.

Aye! Although IM is not to blame for my anxiety disorder, it has contributed to making it worse (being secluded) Though it has mostly been caused by traumatic events over the past few years. I'm near its end though, and see light at the end. (might feel the need to start a blog, because I know how it feels and it's something I want to help others overcome). Just too busy in other areas right now!!

I take the 30 second commute to my Dell Desktop and 22" screen so an old fart like me can see what I am doing. I use Dragon Naturally Speaking because I am a terrible typist. I use Article Notebook to dictate into and spell check at spellcheck.net. I do this full time, or when I feel like working. Life is good :-)

    Hi there,

Well, I spend most of my days writing so here is what I use!

I stick to two! Laptop and a pad! I need to get away from the computer many times during the day! I brainstorm on paper, get my ideas, outline etc on a pad! Then, I type and edit as I go along! That's pretty much all I need and use! I bought Dragon thingy but it wasn't convincing! You don't get the global picture of what you want and you need to edit so much that it's a waste of time!

At some point I used a voice recorder whenever something popped into my head but stopped that too! I am a firm believer in the old school type - Sit straight and work-! LOL!

I am naturally distracted by everything, and this include being distracted by a noise that no one would NORMALLY hear so I use wax earplugs too for concentration! I don't know if lots of people do that but It's the only thing that helps me get my head round things!

So, I am very basic and some would say "old-fashioned" but it works! I don't like new guizmos, organizers and what not! I have everything in my head, I am lucky to have a good memory!

    Have a great day.

    Yoan

Being an internet marketer, I would have to say my MacBook and Internet connection are the most important parts of my business that I can't live without

Well, I work on my laptop basically and I have my phone when I am mobile as I need to get into my emails especially if I am away traveling. For my backup, I use Google Drive and DropBox. Tools, well I have several, depending on the needs of my business.

My laptop is the most important tool to my online business, because obviously without no laptop, you can't access the internet.

I use my laptop for all my work. External drive and drop box for backups. The best software I've invested in is Roboform, saves me so much time. Traffic Travis for keyword.

If my pc crashed with my business in it....I'll carry on with my smart phone.

Well I'm just barely starting out with an IM business, but all I use is my HP laptop and a smartphone. Decided to go with the HP Pavilion when it was given to me. Got the two pretty well integrated but glad to have a laptop to work on as the other screen is a little small.

Still researching the best software to use to help me along. But Google Drive is the most important one so far. I especially like that I can create on my smartphone and edit it on the laptop.

Interesting question. Three years ago I jumped on Apple products because of synchronization. I have my Macbook for traveling and plug it into my thunderbolt display at home - this way i´m mobile. I back up my system with time capsule in case of a crash and i have an ipad when i do research on the sofa :-)
