Again, my WSO is on Google, now a PayPal complaint.

11 replies
I had a WSO that expired 2-months ago. I removed the download page because I've had those circulate on the search engines. Now 2-months later I get a dispute from PayPal from a non-warrior that he could not download after paying yesterday.

I've ironed it out with the purchaser but I would like to know if any other Warriors have had this problem?

From now on, I'll remove the WSO page as well as the download link.

    Couldn't you just remove the payment link? If they can't pay ("this offer is now closed"), they can't download or complain.

    You should really take down the sales page as well. That way people can't get to the payment processor in the first place.

      To be honest, if I buy something and you take my money and I don´t get the product ...
      I would also complain.

      Just remove the payment link, easy as that. And give this customer the product he purchased!

        I think I'll probably password protect external WSO sales pages. At least that way if it does get indexed... the only people with the password will be warriors.

          Or add in a redirect based on the refer IE If the link was clicked from warriorforum dot come then show WSO page if not show some other page/error message.

          When you offer a WSO, you may want to include a meta tag that tells Google and other search engines not to index your website in the first place.

          <meta name="ROBOTS" content="NOINDEX,NOFOLLOW">

          Just a suggestion.

            @khemal -- For Tom's sake, my sake, and all warrior's sake for that matter... How would you do the redirect like you are talking about? I could probably search and find out on my own, but what you are saying would be very useful for everyone else and would be worth posting on this thread.

            @BeachCruzer -- That works to an extent. Not all spiders will pay attention to those instructions. Still that is a good feature to add to increase security of that page. Thanks for the tip.

              I mean using either php code or .htaccess and redicting based on ther referer. If I have some time I'll see if I can do up a little sample.

                For the redirect, just do this...

                assuming you have a salespage at '/' and your WSO at '/wso/'...

                in the /wso/ directory, rename the index.html to index.old, then create a file called 'index.php' and paste in this code:

                <?php header("Location: http://www.yoursite.com/"); ?>

                Your users will be redirected to whatever page you specifiy so they will never be able to order through your special WSO link.

                Then when you're ready to offer it again, just swap the 2 index files (index.xxx becomes index.html again and index.php becomes index.xxx)

                BUT...

                Think about this for a moment... this is a pretty GOOD problem to have! I'm diggin' the new SEO'ed WF big time!

                  This is true... but I plan on making my WSO's so friggin' cheap on the warrior forum that it would blow away the pricing I would provide to the general public. My next WSO which will be a membership site, will be a flat rate for Warriors and a monthly fee for the public. So I definitely don't want both versions in the search engines. That might piss the public off.

                    Here's something to consider. If the search engines are going to list our WSO then why not replace the WSO buy button with a new one at the regular price after the WSO is removed from the forum.

                    It works unless there was a limit set on the product.

                    It could work!
