Will it become a giant like Google or a failure like MySpace in the coming years?

It will succeed, but not from my help. I like it to see how my niece is doing in her fight against Leukemia, or how a friend is. I do not like to hang out there all day trying to create business. I guess I am anti social.

I'm on record as saying that, sooner or later (probably sooner), it will go the way of MySpace.

You want to use FB while you can, but the key is to use it to drive traffic to your site. "Likes" mean little, it's the "Shares" that link to your website that are important.

I don't think It'll become something like Google and It won't crash like MySpace! Didn't know it still existed by the way? Ah, the design was- and I presume is still very ugly?

As for Facebook, it will probably grow and go through development but at some point, there'll be a decline too...and I hope so!

I only have a private account with very little people on it and I don't intend to change it! Not big on social media! I find it's a bit like " meeting someone in a nightclub"....It's very superficial!

    My 2 cents!

Well. I personally don't like any of the social networks.

Don't like to share what I had for lunch.

But who am I against 1 Billion of users worldwide and when they can implement the new search feature as planned they will maybe out beat Google in 2 years.

I run a thread about it.

Only a small number of my fans see the posts I make on my fan page so I am done growing it. I still use it to post blog posts though and still use my personal page. I think it will die like myspace.

I really think that facebook will be with us for a long time. People already spend more time in facebook that in other pages.
They do have a challenge to keep the people interested in them all the time, but so far I don't see it going down.

Its a fad, like the hundreds of others before it...but a popular one. They'll do something stupid to drive away their users (something with privacy maybe?) or someone else will come out with something cooler....eventually.

Think about it...there's nothing revolutionary about it. It's just a fancy messaging system.

Most people are kidding themselves. Facebook has barely scratched the surface of what they will do!!

Once they get search and mobile dialed in there will be no stopping them. They are a really smart crew and the whole simplicity and way they slowly evolve is planned to perfection.

If you're smart you will really start becoming a FB marketing master now so over the next few years you can really kill it.

Its a phase, yes its popular right now but something else will come along and knock Facebook down but I dont think it will go the same as myspace jsut because Facebook are branching out into other areas.

Personally my opinion is that it needs to change. It started off well, and is popular, but I think the constant nagging to install apps that waste your life away detracts from its benefits.

At the moment it is definitely worth doing, because of the number of people that use it now, but I think that that will change.

    Just my two cents...

I dunno - it could be huge I guess. What do I mean huge, its already huge!. But to be compared to Google is a bit off. Their new graph search feature will compete heavily against it though. However, as a few have already mentioned - will this just open the doors to huge spammers? If at the click of a button I can find out everyone in my area who "goes to weightwatchers on Thursady" - this could be a haven for CPA'ers.....?

    Just my thoughts..

I don't see Facebook dying out anytime soon. It the creme of the crop when it comes to connecting.

Google+ I believe is a little bit aways from competing with FB's relevance.

G+ has a lot to offer but right now Facebook offers the most for businesses and personal connection as it has a strong hold on the numbers.

May be the backlinks from Facebook are not of very high quality although they may serve the purpose of website traffic.

I think it's going to be around for awhile. That said, there's always something around the corner that could steal people away and take its place. A lot of the changes FB has made in recent years have become annoying. Like sponsored posts. Ugh.

But for now, I'm embracing it. It's a good way to keep in touch with my friends/family all over the world. And I use fan pages to market my business stuff.

Facebook is going to eventually last only with those who play different games there because it begins to be on money, simple users have to pay if they want their message to appear to all friends not only to some, will have to pay $1 for posting a comment at Marc Zucckerberg's page, who knows what they will ask more money for... other social websites are free for simple users. Eventually when they will lose users, will have to ask more money from simple users and for advertising so they still be listed at nasdaq, advertisers won't remain many because there won't be too many users, players will play on zynga... people will use other free social websites like g+ or new ones like that Microsoft they say want to launch. Facebook will get like myspace.

I think it will still be much long in the industry because worldwide taste won't just change overnight, at a stage it might be appreciated at some parts and abandon at parts of the world, is unlikely to any decline to happen worldwide simultaneously .
