What would you do? - Outsourcing Experience - Advice Needed

I want to ask Warriors for advise on an issue here.

Last year me and my offline partner wanted to get a mobile site converter built to boost our offline mobile site sales. We were coming across many clients wanting a CMS option.

Off we went to oDesk to find a programming and web development team to complete the job for us.

So we found a good team with excellent feedback they had been on oDesk for a few years and seemed reliable.

Anyway the began working on the project and the first payment was made everything seemed to be going great. We tweaked a few things and made a few changes and then it came to paying 2nd milestone payment.

After we payed the second milestone things seemed to slow up and project was getting behind schedule.

Next thing you know the freelancer team just disapear from skype and won't answer my emails.

The converter is only half finished and suddenly the company has gone bust!

We have found another solution for the project but I really feel like I wasted time and effort on getting a convertor built. They won't refund us for the project and I have a half built converter.

What would you do?

Anyone know if I could sell a half built program as its no use to us now. And where would you sell it?
