Sell more by providing prospects with a ROI spreadsheet/graph...

Has anyone ever come across a business plan or pro forma for an internet marketing business or on the consulting services you would provide for companies? Something that would show the ROI for providing internet marketing services to businesses.

This excel spread and graph would be a great aide in selling to local businesses or business online. Most people have to be able to see the return of investment in order to make a decision for their company or to understand it.

If this isn't out there, I have just given people a great idea on how to make money because a lot of people are trying to sell local seo services and internet marketing services. This would be a great way to sell it...I believe. Mainly because most people (owners of businesses) don't don't know much if any about SEO so if you could give data on their vertical market (i.e. search volume thru keyword rankings within the three major search engines and relate that to dollars it could generate for them then, compared to their investment in your services) now you have a selling presentation instead of just a bunch of words in hopes that they will buy into.

Thank you!

I have such a thing I use with my offline clients- a full-blown PP demo and spreadsheet full of ROI info.

    It's called PROOF.

Problem is, I couldn't package it and let YOU use it. I would have to allow you the right to use my results to convince your customers that YOU could do the same thing, and that doesn't sound kosher, does it?

You need to develop your own proof and use that, I think. I can't figure how you could ethically use a generic template for something like this, although with the right disclaimer I suppose you could do anything...

But that would kind of water down the whole deal and may even backfire on you. I mean if your customer sees a bunch of generic "what if" results info, aren't they liable to ask you...

    What Have YOU Done Lately?

    You see my point...

    Peace,

Gman - I can appreciate and I totally agree. I'm not suggesting using someone elses results. I'm talking about creating an excel spreadsheet that has the suggested fields so anyone could just drop there numbers in and like magic a ROI diagram/chart/graph appears as a sales tool. The numbers will be different for everyone (i.e. the price the sell their services for, the number of keywords within the package, the volume for each keyword, the results for the keywords, etc.)

I simply believe there has to be a way to create a visual for the end user to see the ROI for internet marketing. I believe it would help everyone sell more.

    Thanks.

Ahhh. I see what you are looking for, but that's just a fairly simple excel sheet you want.

All you need is all the basic "items" and the metrics you want to calculate first.

What "items" would you be wanting to show as services or "products"?

Whateve makes sense to prove the ROI is more than worth while but the first things that come to mine is you would be comparing the cost of services which would include keyword analysis, SEO online & offline, competitor analysis and the potential rankings with a conservative conversion ratio of sales from their website would produce x number of sales dollars compared to their investement in your services.

Maybe I am forget something but that is what comes to mind.

I know it's a little silly - but people love graphs and stuff
like that. You can package the most basic information
about marketing online in the form of hot-looking graphs
and many people will get very turned-on - and with just
the numbers they wouldn't "get it".

So turn-up the visual element and start capitalizing on
basic IM stuff. It will make you seem like a real expert.

I agree...color but informative graphs/charts illustrate and sell services. Here is some things that could be measured, I believe:

Total monthly clicks from search engines (Google, MSN & Yahoo)

      Estimated average Cost Per Click

      Conversion Rate

      Average profit per conversion

I would recommend using the following info in the equation in order to give different scenarios for different acheived rankings:

      PAGE ONE RANKINGS
TOP 10 (volume of click through traffic)
      Position #1: 42.30% of traffic
      Position #2: 11.92% of traffic
      Position #3: 8.44% of traffic
      Position #4: 6.03% of traffic
      Position #5: 4.86% of traffic
      Position #6: 3.99% of traffic
      Position #7: 3.37% of traffic
      Position #8: 2.98% of traffic
      Position #9: 2.83% of traffic
      Position #10: 2.97% of traffic

      PAGE TWO RANKINGS
TOP 11-20 (volume of click through traffic)
      Position #11: 0.66% of traffic
      Position #12: 0.56% of traffic
      Position #13: 0.52% of traffic
      Position #14: 0.48% of traffic
      Position #15: 0.47% of traffic
      Position #16: 0.39% of traffic
      Position #17: 0.36% of traffic
      Position #18: 0.34% of traffic
      Position #19: 0.32% of traffic
      Position #20: 0.30% of traffic

Getting to the #1 position for your keywords/phrases results will get you nearly 4 times more traffic than that of your nearest rival - now that's a serious difference in both traffic and potential revenue!

The #2 position only accounts for only 11.92% of all clickthroughs - almost 72% less clickthroughs than the top position in the results!

Notice how being ranked #10 is actually better then being ranked #9.

The top 10 results or the first page results get the MAJORITY of traffic, while the second page gets very little traffic.
