Will a physical product work as a WSO?

I have been wanting to put up a WSO for a long time now. I have been a member for years, but was scared of putting up a product based WSO. My fear is that if it is successful or too successful my PayPal account might get frozen. But I have seen that PayPal is much kinder if it is a physical product that sells a large volume.

I was thinking about putting a product on CD and offering it. I know this would limit me when it comes to global sales, but I was wondering if anyone has ever thought to try this.

You're probably likely to find that people want to click a button and obtain the product there and then.

I think offering a physical product, particularly for the reason you have wouldn't be good idea.

What type of product is it?

Wow, now wouldn't that be a good problem to have?

Provided you have done nothing wrong and are selling within their terms of sales, even if your account was frozen due to a large influx of funds, it wouldn't be long until it was unlocked for you, provided you gave them all the information required.

I don't think I have yet seen a case where someone's account was frozen and there were not things that logically led to the frozen account. Yes, a large influx of funds into an account that has been sitting idle for a while will draw attention right away. But don't look at it as a bad thing.

Until you get that large influx how are you ever going to use Paypal. Plenty of sellers in this forum use Paypal for massive launches and we are able to do so because we went through the stage where we had the initial influx, we answered their questions and did everything they asked of us, and now our accounts can handle larger influxes because Paypal knows more about our business model.

The simple answer to your question, no, I wouldn't ever contemplate selling cd's with your WSO. Just a waste of your time and money.

I think the problems come when the money is flowing out of the PayPal account as quickly as it is flowing in.

As for a physical product as a WSO, the added cost and delay in receiving the product would be a killer. Especially if it is just a digital product on media that could be provided as a download.

It might be different if the physical product was actually a physical product, as opposed to a digital product on physical media.

But in a forum like this, I still think that would be a tough sell.

        Nope, not even.

Paypal have automated ways to look for any irregular activity on an account. Your account activity has a certain pattern. The moment you do anything that breaks that pattern (which includes a sudden influx of funds) then they will be alerted to it and will manually review your account.

Any normal service dealing in money would do this.

Don't worry about paypal, they're changing things and less likely to freeze accounts. I'll try to find you a news article quoting paypal team...read it a while back.

I'm sure you could but then I doubt people like waiting; you're better off in terms of conversion providing immediate delivery. Saves you cost and happier customers

    Edit:
A simple search here and you'll find a lot of articles about paypal's promise to change policies avoiding needless frozen funds in a bid to earn back consumer confidence:
    (Search Google news "Paypal changes")

there was a very good article I read a while back, I'll see if I can find that.

If you can find a good way to ship out your product in a timely manner, maybe.

Over the course of the last few years my income has been constant. If I were to put up a product based WSO that did lets say $5000.00 in sales in a week I am afraid this would raise red flags. I I have read horror stories in the forum about this happening to people.

Use a different payment processor if you're worried about it.

The guys at Stripe are very reasonable...give them a try if you're worried about paypal.

And as far as the physical thing goes....why not just try it and see? If it doesn't work you're only out the $40 listing fee for the WSO.

actually making so much money and getting your paypal account frozen is not a good problem to have, trust me I know.

If you are selling any type of money making advice, it is wise to get setup with a real merchant.

Is there a reason for offering a product on CD? Presumably the customer would also have to pay for shipping? What is the benefit of doing so, either for you or your customers?

Instead you could put all the resources into a membership site and sell access instead?

To be honest I think you're really over-thinking things.

It's a very small percentage of people who run into this problem with their paypal accounts and it's much more likely to happen due to an influx of $50,000 and not $5,000. I'd say that kind of amount is not going to raise any red flags. not that much money, really.

I agree about overthinking the problem. I did it last year - steady income and put up one WSO that did well. Paypal didn't bat an eye - and that was before the new and improved changes.

That said, offering a physical product as a WSO is also different enough that it might be a good thing if you can pair it with a digital download that is available immediately. In other words, instead of looking at the physical product as a way of not putting up red flags, consider being a pioneer in the WSO forum Test and try - you never know how it will come out.

PayPal froze my account when I first started doing a lot of volume (selling physical products) but it was VERY easy to resolve.

If they do freeze your account they will likely ask you for tracking #s for certain random orders - you submit the tracking numbers, they verify them, then your account is unlocked.

Don't let the fear of being too successful hold you back. Go for it and deal with roadblocks as they arise. Don't over think it or else you will never know what could have been.

    Good Luck!

I have never seen a physical product being sold as a wso so I think many people being that they're not used to it would not buy it.

Why not put the same information from the cd into a digital product?

I think you should let your CD being a "premium bonus". Which is to say that the moment your customers pay, give them something to enjoy first by letting them download. Then give them the feeling of anticipation by telling them they will receive more goodies through the mail.

Yes, I agree with Daniel above...

I actually think you should launch a WSO and offer both the digital version for a lower price and the cd version+digital immediate download for $20 to $30 more for the people who want a physical product. Keep in mind, having a physical product means a more hands on approach, but I think having a physical product tends to attract those wary buyers - those ones who have been burnt, or those ones who still like to just have something in their hands for the money they paid.

I suggest that you disregard all the advice you are getting regardless of how right or wrong anyone is, and just test it for yourself - sometimes going with your gut instinct can pay off big time.

By the way, there is a very successful Clickbank product that is doing just that - 2 prices: 1 for digital only and the other for cds+digital - and they are doing quite well.

So you just never know. Whatever it is that your WSO is about if it fulfills a need then you just may have a winner - I wish you good luck - because it sounds like your WSO may be a breath of fresh air.

The same thing has to apply when it comes to getting large sums all of a sudden if for years you have gotten a certain amount.
