I am using Terapeak now. However, this website cost you some money. It is an excellent service. Data from Terapeak is extensive and then some. I can most certainly rec. Also, I have Keyword Discovery that gives you keyword results for EBAY, and we hope that helps you.

    Terapeak is $49.95/mo
    KD is $69.95/mo

Ah yes, it can get quite expensive. For beginners I do not rec. Still, it is great if you are a power user.

For product sourcing purposes try using "popular keywords". It's not quite as useful as eBay Pulse was because many products are branded and are the obvious products you would expect to be popular such as iPods and so on.

  • There is a far superior tool I use.

I DON'T use Terapeak. It's full of data that is expensive and didn't give what eBay pulse gave - namely, what people actually SEARCHED for per category.

The new tool is called the CATMAN tool and it's great!

    it's found at: labs.eBay.com/Catman/

You don't want to find 'popular' products, you want to find what people are SEARCHING for - regardless of whether or not people have them 'listed'. The Catman tool shows you this.

    Enjoy!

    Oh, and it's free!

      I concur.

I just started using this myself for certain aspects of market research and I've gathered some good intel from it. I think it beats eBay Pulse hands down for finding out what people are actually searching for.

There's a decent (actually, pretty good) eBay Pulse replacement tool over at WatchCount.com that I often use now:
    http://www.watchcount.com/searches.php

It drills into subcategories as deep as ya need to (I think Pulse was limited to 3 or 4 levels deep). It also does keyword searches in addition to categories. Oh, and it usually returns more than just the "top 10" that Pulse returned, sometimes up to 100 related search terms.
