Any suggestions beyond PayPal to accept payments online,

Looking for alternatives to PayPal for a friends website. He is offering group boot camp sessions and would like clients to have the ability to book online and have the option to pay on the website?

Any alternative suggestions or reasons why he shouldn't use PayPal.
FYI business is based in Ireland

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.

Most of the payments processed online are used and or intergrated with paypal due to ease and most of all secruity.

There are a few that are around in the "internet air" but one of the ones I've had most success with would be 1ShoppingCard.

I've used that together with a Weight Loss site I had selling supplements.

Thanks for the responses so far guys. The list is handy but the issue is a lot of these are either already out of business or unknown that I fear they may be to risky to test.

1shoppingncard and stripe : do you need to set a merchant account for these?
Do you know if they are available and a good working alternative to PayPal in Ireland.

Does Anyone have experience using a payment gateway to take online bookings for offline classes and tying it all together into a calendar.

    Thanks guys and gals

I really like CCnow.com. They also allow you to accept Paypal without having a PayPal account. Works great for me.

You can try 2CO (www.2CheckOut.com). However, I still believe PayPal is the best because of the low fees they charge for every sale you get. Plus PayPal is established and customers are more receptive to pay you through PayPal because of their customers-protection reputation.

It is a pitty stormpay went out of business. They were really good back in the day but got shut down because they were the only payment processor who did the right thing at the time. If they were still around I'm almost certain they would give paypal a run for their money.
