If hit by Panda would a new Computer with different IP make a difference in way Google treats you?

I have been thinking of getting a new PC since my last one was completely busted by my 2 year old. I am getting sick of using my wife's PC.

Anyway, I got hit by Google and some of their algo updates last year and my sites have not recovered.

I am going to start a new blog and if I get a new computer with a new IP address will this new Blog be treated like all my other Blogs , which got slapped by the Panda update ??

Or will Google treat it as a new blog and one that is not correlated to me and my other penalized blogs ??

Thanks,
Robert

Doesn't work that way, the site itself, backlinks, and server play a role in your rankings getting canned.

Just thought it was funny that's all, no need to get upset. If that was the case we'd all be buying new computers everytime we got hit by Googles algo

So you are you directly answering the question or not ? know I am not getting a computer for that purpose. I am getting a new one because of my situation at home and wondering how Google views that and treats that ?

Maybe I am naive and what you say makes sense but just wanted to clear things up !

But I am over the upset part

Yea you have to have a sense of humor when working online, or you will drive yourself nuts. I thought the question was innocent but funny at the same time

Like kindsvater said ,by reading your question it's easy to assume you have no idea about SEO. Maybe you should start researching seo, and it will not only help you understand how Google algo works, but it will help you in ranking your sites higher.

He's laughing because it was a classic post bound to get passed around the Internet. Don't get upset at me. Sometimes you need to know when you have food on your chin.

        Here's the deal:

        - You have no idea what Panda is.

        - You have no idea what SEO is.

        - Why would you think what computer you are using has any influence on Google search rankings?

        - Why would you think your IP for accessing the Internet has anything to do with how Google ranks your blog on a website hosted on a different IP?

Again, Robert, don't get upset because this is pointed out to you. Rather, I think you need to spend some time researching these topics until you are able to understand your post is sort of like asking, if I type my blog posts using one-finger instead of two hands will that give me higher search rankings?

But, you do raise an important point. Sometimes it so easy to take information for granted, and assuming others know what you consider to be "basic" issues - when that is not always so. There is also a lot of horrible information on the net that can create problems. Assuming you were hit by Panda, this bad information you received may be why, and understanding it will help you avoid future Panda problems.

Bottom line: the computer you use to access the Internet, and the IP you use for Internet access, having nothing to do with Panda penalties.

        .

One of the reasons I even bring all this up is I remember when Grizzly Brears who was popular back 4 or 5 years ago, brought up the notion that he had several blogs running with on different IPs.

His reasoning is that if they did a 'Manuel' on him and they would find that his Site was full of spam ( and actually he was telling people how to game google using several blackhat techniques) and they could not not trace any of his other Sites having the same IP and do a 'Manuel ' there also.

Possibility ?? Who knows with Google !

Honestly, I do not think any of us know everything that is up Google's hand and exactly what algo variables are involved in the Panda update.

I do know the main variable they are seeking is good, original content. And not a whole lot of KY stuffing within your content and backlinks from bad sites.

And these SEO companies that give you 10,000 links to Spam forums is looked on very negatively by the Big G !

          I know 15 out of my 15 blogs got slammed on October 14th 2011 ( my B-day nonetheless ).
Not de-indexed but just slammed with a drop in Rankings .

All of them had at least 95 % original, content. With meticuluosly placed back links going to some back inner pages of my sites.

As the years went my the blogs had only got better and better with all the online and offline stuff I did. It was all white hat.

Funny thing is I sent them a Reconsideration letter ( yes you can send a Reconsideration and get a response from G even if you are not de-indexed but just fall in the rankings )about 6 months ago concerning my no. 1 site ( I worked it up no.1 position for 'Free Money Online' KY phrase at GOOG for 4 years straight)

To my surprise they sent a reply back saying the site was fine and it was absolutely a creditable blog. No spam crap !! Which I already knew myself

They concluded that Google rankings tend to fluctuate for everyone and it was a normal condition.

This fluctuation sure must be a long lasting fluctuation lol

When sites are hosted on the same IP, that has nothing to do with the IP address of the owner's personal computer. It's the IP address the site's host.

            Hey Robert,

fwiw.. I don't think that it is such a silly question.. there are a few circumstances where a new computer might be necessary. For instance, when opening a new Adwords or Paypal account after being banned.

(Ironically, Kindsvater has an excellent WSO covering the many ways in which you and your computer can be 'fingerprinted' on the net..)

Anyway, this is not one of those times BUT, if you do have google analytics installed, then I have no doubt that the time spent on site, and behaviour of your visitors is contributing to your rankings (or lack of.) So, you need to make sure that they are getting what they are looking for, through awesome content and appropriate use of keywords.

Of course, you will need to have the SEO basics in place too (site design, clean code, sitemap, robots.txt, meta descriptions, etc) and I have heard google is giving preference to some Google + users at the moment? The main thing to remember is that you are in competition with perhaps millions of other sites for your keyword, and to make it to the first page is [in theory] actually quite an accomplishment!

Once your site is optimized, and has consistent, fresh, relevant content, I would then think out of the box, and ignore Google for the most part. They are far too fickle to rely on, imo. Instead, use social media, write (or outsource) some guest posts, and comment and participate (don't sell!) in blogs and forums in your area of expertise.

In the long run, this is only going to improve your google ranking, as more and more visitors start gathering on your site.

Yeah you hit it on the nail when you mention Guest Blogging. Write now that is one of the best ways to gain an audience; through rankings and more importantly building direct traffic from the blog you are guest posting on.

That can be a goldmine if you find the right people with the right blogs that are similar to the theme of your own blog . And it is imperative and probably most important that you know how to write and write effectively.

That is what I am using most to build up traffic and more importantly building an audience that I can engage with, build trust, and as a by product sell things too.

Blog Commenting is great too, but I give Guest Blogging the edge !

Over the last 5 years in IM my mantra with my now 17 blogs is to own my own
virtual real estate ( which I do ) and own the traffic along with
              that ! (getting there )

Your new IP address will not have any bearing to your SEO. It will not affect your site rankings and SERPs either. So, you need not consider changing your IP as a potent SEO strategy. Hope that helps.
