Membership Site For Beginning Runners

INTERNET MARKETING

I am an elite marathoner with over 21 years experience. Do any of you have any background with membership sites. If you have a membership site already what would you suggest for someone like me marketing to runners, marathoners, 5K, half marathoners?

How can I continue to create online content within a membership site for runners?

I love running and am a fitness fanatic myself so I really like your topic!

If I were you, I'd niche it down as much as possible. Pick 1 area and just dominate with it. Maybe it's helping someone to run their 1st marathon or half, or men over 35 etc. You can expand from there but getting very specific will help you build it much quicker than just doing a general running site.

Not sure if you are wanting to know about membership software and how it's done or not but if so, I use Wishlist Member for my site and it's worked perfect for me for almost 3 years now.

Hi Nate. :-) There's a lot you can do...

You can release new content monthly.

You can create a bunch of content up front and "drip feed" it to your members.

You could set up different membership levels depending on the value your members get from each level, etc

You don't even necessarily have to put out new content each month. You could do a monthly Q&A or webinar and give members access to a private forum. This way your members still get tons of value but you don't have to pour hours into creating BRAND NEW content every month..unless you want to of course ;-)

  I think you got some very good tips here
  
  You can also build an online course and give your members access to the lessons in periodic way, for example: a lesson every week for 6 months.
  
  I also love using Wishlist Member as my membership platform (their Sequential Upgrade feature is perfect for the example I wrote), and I would also recommend Optimizepress as a theme.

  I think Paul's suggestion about creating a sub-niche is definitely the way to go. This is a huge overall niche (found out today that there are 2 million runners in the UK alone!!) so you shouldn't have any problems finding a specific sub-group to target.
  
  It seems you are also in the fortunate position of having all the necessary content in your head and just need to put it into various media.
  
  You might be interested in checking out MemberRocket as a solution for your membership site. It was released a few months ago by Martin Crumlish and Todd Spears and I used it to create my first membership site.
  
  It is easy to use, has good training vids and the email support is good.
  
  I bought it specifically because it integrates a licensing feature AND built-in support ticket system with the membership site you create. I found that much easier than having to integrate secure delivery and a support system via a third party.
